Has Loris given up on the title already or did he mess up his quali run. It would sting to lose it because of a flat after winning half the races.

then remembered there are no points available, so I wonder if some people might gamble on an early start time with the possibility of rain

or of some of the turns/miniberms getting blown apart ?

whistler have crankworks

Actually WB/Vail no longer own crankworks. It was bought out by Darren Kinard this year.
I have a suspicion that we won't see crankworks back at Whistler again.

But yes, the resort is mostly full in the summer (on a typical year) but we might see them look for another flagship event. Doubt it would be a UCI unless there ends up being a North America DH series a Euro series and an Asia Pacific series.

I love how people can watch this and think someone isn't trying to win or has already given up.

Do you know how hard this game is? The top 39 qualifiers are within 10 seconds of each other. 39! One wrong move and you're a nobody.

Danny and Loris are both in the top 10. There's nothing in it.

Darren Kinnaird was the original GM of Crankworks. The guy you'd see in a headset doing pre slopestyle rider briefings, finish corrals etc
As I understand it, he only finalized things literally the first day of the first Silverstar event. I'd assume the model moving forwards will be quite similar to this summer for the Canadian events. Showcase small resorts and in turn allow them to develop their bike programs.

It is a bit confusing isn't it!

Will be happy if Matt, Loris or Minnaar wins the overall so should be fun to watch.

So Claudio, is it a smart move to go around that jump then?

Don't have Sky so it's DH then F1 for me.

In the first women's race Claudio was saying the men could make the back of that jump, changed his tune very quickly!

It looks like it's started raining. All those hardpack sections will be lethal. I think the top ten will be in deep shit if it really comes down.

EDIT: it's absolutely pissing down!

At least all the contenders will have similar conditions so the overall shouldn't be affected.

Except possibly makes it harder for Minnaar or Bruno to win today's race.

What a way to end the season! Looks to be starting to get slipperier and muddier at the top!

Unintended schralping going on in that left hander onto the flat sprint, worse possible place to lose time!

Those contenders for the overall will be wishing they’d taken it easy in qualifying yesterday.

Last few runs of the last race of the season built to a real incredible crescendo again, just like snowshoe last year. Brill.

Chuffed for Jamie and gutted for Greg but Loic just flew out of that last corner before dropping down to the line, looked way faster than anyone else id seen there. Hopefully there's another year or 2 left in Greg before he eventually retires hes just always there or there abouts!

I'm so glad the rain wasn't the decider. That would have been a miserable end to a crappy season. Thankfully those last runs were on fire.

I honestly didn't believe Bruni could out sprint Minnaar on the flat bit but that's where he won it.

Whatever Ohlins have hidden in that mystery box definitely worked.

If you watch it back, his forks barely move on the last sprint, it's gotta be a compression lock.

Bloody brilliant for Jamie. Next season has to be a top step for him?

I asked him in the summer about how he felt going into some EWS and DH - and he seemed quietly determined...I guess the proof is in the results.

Couldn't be happier for young Jamie Edmonson , we met him at Glenlivet where his mum runs the cafe in the summer and he seems a very grounded nice lad. Surely gonna get signed up for Commencal or the likes next season . Gutted for Matt Walker and Greg .
A short season but the races have been great .

Well as no one else appears to have, I will say well done Marine Cabirou. First race I wondered about her fitness she lost so much time at the bottom, but this time she was better there.

If all the top women are fit next season it will be interesting.

Gutted for Matt Walker

I think he got a small consolation prize! Great race though.

Loved Minaar doing a tear-off strip in mid-air off the jump.

British World Cup and champs double , must be the first time someone has won the overall without winning a race .

In a way that might of been the best outcome for Jamie Edmonson . He gets on the podium and I’d imagine will have a few teams to pick from without the label of rain assisted World Cup winner . The french lad who won Lourdes a few years back said he struggled with it .

sounds like there could be a few team moves as well . Sets it up really well for next year .

He was let go out of Transition MucOff a year ago. Let's hope someone offers him a contract for a few years.

This season he has been on EWS u21 podium and now 10th(?) overall for DH world cup.

I didn't see him turn it off though for the big jumps etc after the sprint. Surely he'd not run them locked out.

Brilliant to see Phil Atwill up there. Such a talented bicycle operator and big character. 👌

What happened to Loris, that flat on friday must have really affected his confidence.
Minnaar's mid air tear off, what a Legend.
Super Bruni is back.
Another title for the Brits, win without a win, hopefully Matt and Reece can take their form to the sunnier races.

Overall for Matt walker, that's pretty exclusive company for a UK rider. Only Peaty, Atherton and Bryceland have managed haven't they?

We've had some really close racing this year, really enjoyed it and to top it off a Matt Walker is world champ and theres still nothing on the front page celebrating this...

agreed. plus, its STW, so I'd hope for a proper article, maybe with some interviews*, rather than trying to merely turn the results table into a paragraph and calling it a day.

*most peeople are probably spending today and tomorrow driving home, so give it some time.

That was an exciting watch, reminded me of a couple of last years races when someone in the top 20 would sit in the hot seat with the time not being beaten till you got to the top 5 and then everyone of them would beat the previous time!

Bummer for Loris to lose it in such a way, seems he knew when he finished he' blown it.

So was Bruni locking both his shock and fork out? Rear lock out hidden by the Bruni Box actuated by the cable fed from the left grip position then a fork lock out done via the fork and seen on the broadcast?

Saw on IG Cathro was giving or lending parts to Privateers and supporting them out of his pit which is awesome IMO

I thought Josh E looks a bit relieved when Matt W came down! While a win would be amazing, maybe not in those circumstances - no-one wants to be that guy.

Overall for Matt walker, that’s pretty exclusive company for a UK rider. Only Peaty, Atherton and Bryceland have managed haven’t they?

And I hope people don't belittle it as only being based on four races, because some of the world's best were clearly struggling with the conditions and the double header format - while Matt was thriving and riding incredibly consistently.

theres still nothing on the front page celebrating this…

There's a slightly cringey article about why MTBers shoudl vote though, so it's not all bad.
