Visiting Lourdes area for a few days on our family camping trip next week.Â
Now, obviously I knew they have hosted WC DH in the past but I hadnt really thought much further than that... its NOT a MTB holiday and I was planning on taking my gravel bike for some gentle family rides to the beach BUT---- of course there looks to be some good bike park and uplift riding in the area! Given in my nearly 30 years of riding I've never had the pleasure of chairlift assisted riding, I'm not sure I can resist... Should I take my own trail bike, or run the gauntlet of rentals? Anyone ridden in this area? Any tips?
We are staying in Lourdes, looks like some potentially good riding in the forests nearby, DH/Enduro trails at the top of the funicular at the Pic Du Midi, and then a short drive away 2 bike parks on the Tourmalet, Bareges?Â

Pic du Jer... not Midi...
Lourdes - Pau and return on the Chemin Henri IV which is signed and also has red and white GR bands - fine on a gravel bike. you could return to Lourdes by the well-signed velo-route which follows the Gave de Pau from the footbridge in Bizanos. At the Pau end there is an extensive trail network that's signed and lots of singletrack too but that's local knowledge. You'll pass maps on the Chemin Henri IV, photograph one.

If you're into long days in the hill that aren't too gnarly then have a look at:

The Hautacam area is popular for descents:

Just Google whichever place you're in and add VTT. Google images will throw up the maps and links to GPX files.

Brill, that website is perfect, just what I was after. I've decided to leave the Gravel bike and take my Levo instead... cannot pass up the opportunity!Â
Probably a little to late for the OP, but found these sites whilst looking for routes in the same area.

There's also a few bike parks including one by Lourdes

Not too late at all - I'm on the ferry now! Think I've decided on a day at Lourdes/PicDuJer, and a day at Bareges bike park.

The staff at that vallees de gavarnie site were great when I emailed them for tips.Â

Well funny, swapped the gravel for a Levo 🤪
No brainer!!!
