Just of late (in the last week) i've had people that i don't ride with, all from different countries around the world (South America, France, Italy etc) start 'following' me. Some haven't even logged any rides. I live in Auckland, miles from any of them and certainly don't know them.

Is this some kind of scam that's going to be perpetrated against me or something sinister that I should be concerned about. What's their motivation, i'm pretty certain that it can't be due my awesomeness and amazing feats of athleticism.

Cheers.

Strava suggests people I should follow... But they are on the other side of the Atlantic and I don't know them, or even like the cut of their jib... Maybe you are now being hoared out by strava in this way ?

Pimped out like some cheap ho 😳

Not good.

I think I should block them maybe, no reason for them to have my mediocre rides on their dashboard every time they log on.

Set privacy to maximum and remove any details of your bike(s)

My account is set so I have to approve anyone that wants to follow me
And since Christmas I've had a few requests
From people I don't know but are only an hour or so away
I've got a bit paranoid about bike theft so press the start and stop button on my garmin
Outside the local tesco 1 mile away

A friend of mine was being stalked by someone who is on here, in a bid to find "secret" trails..that were infact, there for all to see. The perpetrator wasnt/isnt capable of finding them because he was.........(complete as you see fit) 😉

I have 2 followers - I know them both

They must be hugely disappointed if they're waiting to check out my "activity"
(sorry gents, got a poorly shoulder and a lazy nature 😳 )

Why don't you use the privacy zone feature? Hides where you live/work within a 1 mile radius.

I do have it set not to show within the one mile

You'll still be able to see where your ride starts and finishes, it's just other people who can't.

Oh and

Stava
sounds more fun than Strava.

I have 3 followers, woo-hoo 😆

For some reason Elbry Sandland (if you don't know then it's not funny!) is one of them!

I follow a few people I don't know, but only because we were passing KOM's between each other like hora's bikes.

Another guy, goes round and gets KOM on every segment in my area. I follow him so I can take them off him.

I’ve found following people (near and far) is an amazing knowledge base to some quality trails.

And you NEED to hide your home(even friends)address! So so many people aren't doing this!! Which is a huge risk with an internet savvy thief?
