Going for a biking boys weekend away in mid May. I've got lots of Torridon trails from magazines but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience of a good mid level (no more gnarly than the Ciaran Path please) trails that loop around the area. Also, any recommendations on where to stay?
There's a basic free campsite with showers ,toilets and hot water in Torridon itself next to the YHA and one pub/hotel a couple of miles away along the main road. There's also a few holiday cottages which you'd need to book in advance and possibly a B and B that's about it AFAIK.Some prefer to stay at slightly busier places and drive in just for the rides.I liked the quietness of the area myself but not the midges-hopefully being May you should avoid them. All the trails we did were on a par with Ciaran Path technically and the descents were all rideable , much longer and betterer, the pushing up not so.This is a great first ride before you up the ante to the bigger/longer routes

Can recommended the Torridon Inn just next to the Torridon Hotel.
Some good b&b in Shieldaig, try the Aurora...
