I'm (slowly) increasing my ride distance and thinking (probably fantasising) about some HT550 training. Any tyre suggestions for grippy, tough, low rolling resistance etc...

Not done the HT550, so don't really know. However, I did find WTB Trail Boss light/fast-rolling good for the Welsh Coast 2 Coast. Run tubeless they coped OK with the descent at ClimachX, with the no punctures in 200 miles, and rolled pretty quickly on the Tarmac.
