You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi,
My Son has one of these stunt scooters which has a gloss green finish. He wants to convert it to a matt black finish. I have read a few articles on this .
It seems key to strip as much of the old gloss paint off so you can stick a couple of prime coats on it and then finish off with the topcoat
As he wants a matt finish what is a good hard wearing paint type to get? It needs to be out of a can really?
Suggestions would be most appreciated
Thanks
Kwack
Plastikote works really well for me.
Wet and dry the existing paint so that it's no longer gloss/smooth ( you don't need to actually remove the existing paint) then paint 3+ thin layers of paint.
As clubber says. That way when he scratches through the matt black some of the green will show through. Tidy.
Cheers will look out for that make - as he wants a matte finish I take it that you don't finish off with a lacquer?
Should be available at your local B&Q

+1 for Plastikote
Plastikote is usually matt by default so no lacquer necessary.
thanks for all the advice
