Hi all,
Helping out a friend at work (not looking to expand my collection of ladies' cycle clothing).. She is starting to do some more cycling and has some longer rides planned. Advised that it's worth getting some decent shorts etc. to get comfy.
She's looking for something for a waist size about 42".
First question is - are there makes that do women's shorts in this size?
Follow on - how different are men's shorts? Plenty of men's shorts with lots of Xs before the L that'd be easily large enough.
Any help appreciated (and please keep it helpful - this is someone starting cycling, and I hope we're all keen to help/encourage that)
If she is starting out i would guess she doesn't have a female specific saddle or one designed for her so the disadvantage of male shorts may be minimal in comparison.

Just to add that men's shorts don't normally accommodate women's hips. If money is no object then Rose Bikes have a huge selection of clothing in a multitude of sizes.
Edit: my brain is on a go slow today. Another link:

"Fat Lass at the Back" 😯
Hmmm, they might not be friends for much longer . . .
Esme - there is a plain version but would suggest that many wimminz simply wouldn't want to wear any of these!
A few on here, but they're mostly quite pricey:
Surely they'd say "Wide Load"?
euain - has your friend had her thyroid checked?
must resist obvious, does she not have enough padding already joke....
dammit...
seriously tho, i have nothing useful to contribute, but good on her!
Thanks for the suggestions, passed on and very much appreciated.
CG - to tell you the truth, I'm not sure. As far as I know, she's healthy and other than the plus size, nothing suggesting thyroid issues. (Though I know from the ex who has an underactive thyroid, it can present in many different ways).
