trouble!

https://www.farminguk.com/news/lake-district-launches-pop-up-campsite-guide-for-farmers_57631.html?fbclid=IwAR0VEtxlmogaXlv_5jCsWOiNjPFoV4jLeXCv40IIcR64dKMh_1S7OIARV5E

I have use of a field from a friendly farmer and have used  it for events before so looking at getting a friend who has several yurts to locate herself there and will jump on her insurance for  Campervans and socially distanced tents at the weekends only. Obviously risk assessment will be done with portable toilets and the possibility of a mobile shower block. Plan is for me to manage the site at the weekend and my friend sorting the clamping they will be in separate fields.

The field will be used during the Jennride, Bikefest and the Sam Houghton  and all money for that will be ploughed back in to the events/charity

Prices will be relevant to the facilities provided but would like to make it worth my while ,what pitfalls have I missed out anyone done it.

Would you come what sort of prices would be reasonable but economical for me! 🙂 camping running during July August

Sounds like a good idea given the likely demand. Stayed at a couple of NT sites last summer- both operating at reduced capacity, the Wasdale site also had additional portable toilets, everything very well maintained. Hoathwaite much more basic, portacabin toilets a bit grotty but regularly cleaned, separate portable showers which are ok. I think Hoathwaite charges £12/night for a small tent, which is good for that location. I wouldn't choose a site that didn't have showers. Hope that helps.

Showers might be an issue hence why it will just be weekend camping, there will be a river and we do have a Cold shower that is a stand alone thing but no privacy .

This is it 🙂

Fyi Tarnfoot is £4 a night per person £2 for the car. Which is quite in rise over what I paid last time I stayed. No shows, 2 real, toilets one tap and one cracked sink outside. Tarn to swim in

The care they take to make sure they don't get trouble suggests that it can be hard work

But I recon this summer you'll be to charge whatever you like for a campsite. However the proportion of people not use campsite etiquette might be higher as well

Does the farmer not let the grass grow and make silage or hay? Does it fit their timescales or do you have to pay them off?

Sounds like a license to print money to me. Everywhere was rammed last year.

You could almost build a shower block for £450....OSB shed. Pricey bit would be water heater.

Grass will be cut before the start and after the camping  I,ve had 300 camping on there before but only having 30 pitches to rotate areas the sheep might even be in the field but they are usually on the fells at this time of year.

No  permanent alterations to the field is one condition of the LDNPA pop up camp rules so no to the shower block 🙂

Ref Tarn Foot Malcolm banned me for a while for a late night fire  so I know the crack 🙂
