few things.
bought it to do jumps. then triple ring and clips. hmmmm
'cant beat on-one for value' - then everyone buys a headtube badge for £14. fourteen pounds! value? thats 10% of the frame cost!
Er... so who said they bought it to do jumps then put a triple ring and clips on?

Why do you care, really? The frame still cost less than £150 including the headtube badge.
🙄
just interested, coulda sworn it was a forum for discussion. or can i not question your impecabble judgement?
my bad on the jumps thing, thought that other bike (with the long stem) was yours... evidently not.
Just wondering why you seem so keen to have a go (and get it wrong). I never said anything about the frame being good value, so the head tube badge thing seems a bit of a weird criticism.
You're free to have an opinion of course, and I'm free to think you were being an arse 🙂
the head tube badges are ghey IMO.
im sticking with my rose 🙂
general comments grumm. don't be so keen to take it personally.
plenty of talk about value on this thread + plenty of interest in expensive headtube badges.
also the last pic is of a tiny frame, but with clips and trip ring. odd setup if you ask me.

im sticking with my rose
You don't live in Lancaster though, the white rose is not acceptable here. 😛
Also the rose couldn't make that wimpy yellow colour look any worse so it doesn't really matter for you. 8)

I don't really get the thing about percentage of the frame cost etc - it's still way way cheaper than anything similar even with the 'expensive' head tube badge. I would consider myself fairly stingy compared to most on here but £14 doesn't seem very expensive to me.
Tiny frame? It's 18"
And I assume by clips you mean the pedals? Are they wrong?
I've bee wondering about that - I've got a Blackspire Stinger that I put on my Pitch for the Mega I've been thinking of sticking on.
It just stops the chain rattling off the big ring on rough stuff - works too, the chain never came off once.
A few quid on a headbadge for us Lancastrians / Chesire-ites (or whatever we're called) to de-Yorkshire it? It's not much on the grand scheme of things.
Anyway - I got mine muddy last night. Anyone else been out in the hills yet? Top, top bike - very nicely finished and ridiculous value for money - extra headbadge or none. 🙂
Looks cool with some mud on it (and the expensive head tube badge) 🙂
Just finished mine - don't think I'll be testing it out anytime soon as I feel rotten.
edit: still need to cut down the steerer, and yeah the garden is a disgrace
Nice.
Ta 🙂
Where are the pics of your pink monstrosity?
And your new bike (ba-doom-tish!)
😛
I'm not allowed to touch it, never mind look at it till next week for my birthday. 🙁
Got my brown 456; ordered Tuesday @ 16:00, arrived today... Very pleased, although the brown is slightly metallic which I wasn't expecting. Paint looks good, only one teeny spot where there is a teeny chip, but has been lacquered over. Hurrah.
Ta daa.
you cant tell in the photo that the pads in the front brake are brand new and need bedding in before saturday.
and yes i realize the hoses are a little on the long side.
and yes i know my box of spares is looking like it could use a new box.
proper daylight pictures on Saturday 😀
Got my frame yesterday but will leave to the weekend to build it up. Looking good grumm. The frame is brighter in the flesh than the pics portay it as. It's almost fluorescent!
i have an on one, and live in lancaster, and i'd rather pay £14 for the headbadge that have a white rose on the front of it!
Hi,
Long time lurker, first time poster... Got myself a Barry White Inbred frame this week following the passing of my '97 Orange P7 (or rather, the forks with a 1" steerer). Pretty happy with it. Very happy with the carbon forks, think I may have finally found love.
Anyway back to the frame. The frame is advertised as the BB having not been faced. The threading looks a bit interesting too, am going to run it into the local shop tomorrow to get it faced and chased, but I haven't noticed any mention on this thread about this?
Am I being a Wuss? should I just force the BB, it doesn't feel like it will go in smoothly.
Be gentle, this is my first bike build.
dan
Hi, I emailed on one about that and they said they are faced during manufacture.
Faced and then painted.
Thanks for the info.
The build starts tonight!
dan
Hi Graham,The frames are faced during assembly - the worst that can happen is a bit of variation in paint thickness....
Adrian
Email from On-one. I've had no problem putting mine together, there was a bit of excess paint in the dropouts and I had to knock out some paint from the disc brake tabs, but it seems fine. Depends how fussy/methodical you are about these things I suppose.
BB went in fairly smoothly, worst thing was some bits of cardboard in the threads, off the packaging.
Good luck with the build, was my first proper build too - really enjoyed it. 🙂
Looking forward to riding mine at the weekend round Woburn, although the weather looks atrocious.
Downloaded a cool angle measuring iphone app yesterday (suprisingly accurate) and it's showing 66.5 degree head angle with 100mm forks, no sag. I guess that'll be somewhere around the 67 mark once I'm sat on the bike. Other observations are that it's a good inch longer wheelbase than the inbred it replaced, looking at where it hangs on the wall in the garage.
My new box arrived today next day service - BRILLIANT - however size "correct" - colour "wrong" - gutted! So gave the chaps a call up, prefered colour coming Monday with the courier picking up wrong frame, can't say fairer than that. Pics/build to follow..
I want to see a pink one!!!!
I want to see a pink one!!!!
I bet you say that to all the boys.......
Looking good Olly and robbo 🙂
[public climb-down]
Ok Grumm - you were right. I've just tried black grips and saddle on the green Inbred and, yup, it's a lot better than adding brown to the mix.
Therefore, there will presently be appearing on the Classifieds a set of lock on grips and a rather nice Ti saddle...
[/public climb-down]
I'll sort some pics over the weekend.
I want to see a pink one too - though I'm loving the orange, yellow, blue and brown (and my green one, of course). Good work, On One design pixies.
Got to look at my pink one today[insert joke] and it looks good. No pics though.
That looks great, tinribz - and a cool match with the Bombers too. I've spent about 2 hours tonight with a squishy back brake, but it seems to be coming good; best of effort with yours! Patience is a virtue or something like that.
Nice tinribz - what size is it?
It's a 14", for a 5'2 Mrs Tin. She prefers a long TT but with the seat up and maybe a layback I reckon I could get on with it too, and I'm 6ft, with the slack front feels really stable. The Bombers are plasti-coated!
Hey gonetothehills, What length ( or is it width?) are those spank grips? I'm throwing some brown in with the orange. Got the charge saddle today. My raceface grips are too short anyway, my hands are off the end.
hi biker66. They're 129mm total length (inc the collars) and the rubber part of the grip is 112mm - as far as I can tell...
There's a couple of people interested in them on my thread in the Classifieds but no sale as of yet.
cheers.
is there a chart on the on one site with measurements im missing im just unsure if i want another 16 or go up a size. One i have rides spot on and fits great but has loads of post out and 30mm of spacers just wondered if i could get same fit on bigger frame . Five ten in height with inline post and 70mm stem. Also any pink pix i wanna see how bright it is im hoping its very bright like the orange one is meant to be 🙂
mick its all in the 'useful pages' section on the left hand side if you scroll down.
Ok Grumm - you were right.
:smug: 😛
I do like that headtube badge, have to get one for my non-stick pan grey 456.
Headtube badge is the naffest thing I have ever seen! You should be proud to have that Yorkshire rose on your frame. If I was On One I would put a copyright on the badge! After all you are defacing the product with chav badges. Making it look like a Renault Clio with a fast sticker on the back!
Not really - classic bikes had proper head tube badges like that. Hardly equivalent of a boy racer thing. Bitter Yorkshireman perhaps? 😛
cheers mate
As sported by "chavs" the world over... 🙄
Not suggesting for a moment a parallel with an IF or Yeti, but I think the headbadges are a good example of British craftsmanship and finish an already nice frame off very well. Anyway - what's to a little indulgence?
Yes the Yeti and the IF badges follow in the same vain! Both look naff.
Oh and Yes I'm from Yorkshire, but I'm not bitter! More a lager man
Bench needs a coat of Hammerite and the grass is way too long. 🙂
But don't those Lemon Meringue SS's look the business! Very nice - you must be well chuffed with it. Where did you get the wheels done?
Just ordered an 18inch pink 456. Going to take a while before fully built though. Need some forks - thinking Pikes, but they'll have to wait until after xmas. Will start by swapping most of the kit over from my ss. Could be tempted to add gears later, but will see how things go.
Looking forward to opening up the box and perving later next week.
Ha! A so-called Yorkshireman who drinks lager. Pussy. What's the matter, Lagerboy? Can't stand a pint with flavour and alchohol in it? And since when has an On-One had a Yorkshire Rose on the headtube? Mine has the same as that cast badge, but the decal, same as every other On-One I've ever seen, and proper headtube badges are class, the Ibis head badge one of the most beautiful ever to grace a bike.
how tall are you captain and inside leg if you dont mind lol 🙂
seatpost is wrong way round mate. Looks very purple rather than pink in the pic whats it like in the flesh
Ah... Well spotted, it also has about 20 headset spacers!
It's definately more of a metallic purple or deep pink in the flesh, quite striking. It's what she wanted though 🙄
mmm i wanted a pink one not purple 🙁
hmm, i think you'd call that "Magenta" ??
mmm not sure if i want one now ;-(
Fuchsia frame 😉
Couple questions guys...
craig1975 - what size is yours?
Do they measure the sizing centre bb to top of seat tube?
Is a 456 SS the same effective top tube length as an 'original' 456?
cheers
mc
Ok here's mine then:
Some more of the build here:
Hedge needs cutting leaves need sweeping beer needs drinking
First ride on Sunday over at Woburn and I love it. Definitely makes a hero out of a fool, even with 'only' 100mm forks on.
Still no photos of a brown one? Come on guys, I can't build mine up till Christmas. Need some inspiration!
so brown or purple mmmm ive got a brown karate monkey on its way so maybe purple is the way
btw this is my current set up on a 16 fits bob on but im thinking of a 18 this time as it looks a bit small lol fits great and rides great i just thinking i could get same set up on a bigger frame . i think ;-)275mm exposed post and 70mm stem 35mm spacers on the front
[IMG]
[/IMG]
and yes the swap is purely a colour thing 😉
btw are the headtubes the same length on the 16 and 18 as i cant find any info on the site
Hmmm... am i manly enough to ride a 16" purple one?
and what would the wife think about that?
btw are the headtubes the same length on the 16 and 18 as i cant find any info on the site
.5 of an inch different - did I not tell you where to find it on the site? 😡 😉
brown looks nice though that one's a bit gate-like.
mi©k - how tall are you? Is that where you run your seat when riding?
hi im five ten just about lol and yes thats where i ride it usually (well thats the best height for climbing) sometimes drop it for downs if i can be arsed
is that a 400mm seatpost then? and a 16 frame? Just trying to work it out for mine - im 5'8 maybe but have really short legs so I just got a 350mm seatpost but worrying it might not be enough. Ill measure my current pedal to saddle height tonight and then check it though sure it will be fine
its a 410 post mate i had a 350 and it was too short should be ok for you tho id guess mine as only about 5mm over full extension but i went for bigger is always better option 😉
ok cool! I have short legs anyway as the mrs likes to wind me up about! justwish I had time before Friday to build it up but then I would have to sacrifice my night ride tonight or thursday
its only a ride and it will make the ride on the new one so much sweeter 😉 what colour was it you got mate
The blue in the end - was undecided between blue and brown (im not good enough to justify pink 😉 ) In the end no more browns left so that made my decision easy!
