1) Isn't this just advertising? Shouldn't you pay for this? I'm sure if Pat Adams signed up and, the next day, placed an advert for one of his events there would be a cry "foul"
2) Why would you choose to run a 24hr race on t eh same weekend as SSMM, the biggest 24hr race in the UK, when there are 51 other weekends in the year?
I'll applaud you for having the guts to organise this and it does look like good value (despite the cost of actually getting there that is), however as Rob says it's on the same weekend as Mayhem.
...and because of that, I'm out.
Rob-
1- it's perfectly allowed. Loads of people do it.
2- Maybe some people want to ride some decent trails than round some boring flat mince fest in the Midlands?
Sounds good, I'll see if I can get out to this.
getting your bike to an island = costly - I agree with the second poster .

that old chestnut again.
Indeed. I swore I'd never do a Pat Adams organised event after doing 3 of them and them all being total washouts due soley to the trails being to tame and too weather dependant.
Anyone fancies a real 24 hour race that's on proper trails that are not only hilly but not utterly destroyed by a spot of rain then the Relentless 24 is on this weekend.
they were washouts because the trails were too tame?
anyway. Same weekend as Mayhem. good luck.
From personal experience, if you haven't got a cash backer and you are funding it from entries alone then the only way to get it moving is on forums (fora, fori, whatever). These things cost thousands (HtN1 was about £12k) for just the basics without and advertising budget. As long as the organiser is giving any profit away rather than lining their own pockets then what is the problem?
Going head to head with Mayhem is brave though.

Any other weekend wouldn't be the "longest day" (well to be exact, the solstice is the Tuesday 21st June, but that's the closest weekend).
Good point. However Hit the North was not in the most Northern of venues and nobody got hit (apart from the chap that blocked Phil for about 10 minutes then fell off infront of him at the water splash). I've seen the Brown Backs and they do not have brown backs and Mountain Mayhem is not on a mountain and is superbly organised.
