I'm looking for a long front QR skewer. I'm attempting to fit limpet panniers to my road bike but with the width of the extra metal in the drop outs there isn't enough thread left to screw the nut on to the skewer. Any ideas?
How much longer? Rear QR skewers are an inch longer.
Cut down and re-thread a rear?
10-15mm longer would be about right. I dont have a die cutter so was hoping that I could avoid purchasing one.

I have some here and the packet says maxium dropout capacity 8.5mm
Problem solved. Getting threads cut onto a skewer.
be careful how much you tighten it.
Cut threads are not the same as rolled threads 🙂
Halo Hex come in standard and XL length, but it doesn't state the XL length http://www.halowheels.com/products/part/HUHAQHXD

They are perfectly adequate if the original OD is correct.
Forgive me I wasn't aware I said they were inadequate only that you'd be wise to not overtighten resulting in a broken skewer and no more riding.
And its the narrow diameter that matters when it comes to the strength of a thread 😉
I have HALO hex on the front of my Kona PhD. With Project 2 forks I have about 12mm of thread over what's required.
