There seem to be a large number of bikes out now with what I consider to be long TT, steep SA and slack HA compared to my 9 year old heckler.

How do these affect sizing? Does the steeper SA mean you can go for a shorter TT or does the long TT/slack HA mean you run a short stem to get the ETT back to where you want it?

At 6ft I usually fall between the M/L gap for most manufacturers recommended sizes and wanted an idea of how to approach sizing before I started to look at demoing some bikes.

Go for the longer reach with a shorter stem. Way better IMHO.

I wouldn't compare anything with an old heckler, they had an incredibly short TT.

If that is all you have ridden for quite a while then do a lot of demo's, and get some decent rides in on mates bikes if possible, to work out what you prefer.

I certainly prefer a longer TT, short stem and wide bars, but then I do have very broad shoulders and long arms, I don't think that setup is right for everyone (or even most that go for it).

I've based the last few frames on a top tube of 600mm, never really took notice of the SA until I bought my Liteville. It's 74deg from memory, but still has a 600mm TT. This means that in the saddle, it's slightly shorter reach, but it's a fair bit longer between the bars and the cranks when out of the saddle. I spent sometime measuring my current frames trying to work it out, bits of string everywhere..... It's worked out fine though. It's brilliant and I haven't noticed it
