How are you getting on with them?
My 7th(!) Shimano caliper to fail is about to be sent back for warranty and I don't hold out much hope of getting a replacement quickly, and tbh, I've had enough of this crap even if I did. Was looking at using MT5 calipers with my 6100 levers and Magura hoses.
I've also got a couple of I spec EV things hanging off them so keeping the levers would make it cheaper.
I think it's great. Takes a bit of time to get used to the bite and power of the brakes. But when you do, all other brakes feel like they don't work very well.
Only annoyance is the pad / rotor clearance isn't very big so brakes often squeak a little. The wheel still spins like there is no rub, so no real issue.
Do it!
Why bother. Just go full magura. Nice they is....
Been using XT 8100 levers with MT5 callipers for just over a year and love them. Loads of easily controlled power and so far reliable. I love the shape of Shimano levers otherwise maybe I’d have gone for Code RSCs rather than chance mixing and matching like this but I have absolutely no regrets to date. Availability was good from Merlin pre COVID no idea now
Great stuff, thanks people. Mt5s ordered.
@nixie is a good point, but I've heard so many stories about the Magura levers leaking, or breaking in crashes(I crash quite a bit :D), and the mt5s come with the massive long levers as well. I guess if I can find some one finger levers cheap I'll consider it, but there's still another 40 wood I'll have spend on the Shiftmix clamps for my controls after the 60 quid or so for the levers.
