I am going to working out our Italy office in Lavagna once every few months for a week or so at a time, I can take the bike in a bag/box for free with my luggage allowance, but I can’t expense a rental car for a week at current rates so need to get from the airport to the office. Once in Lavaga I can get a company van to drive get about as Finale is about 1.45 up the road. Has anyone here got experience of taking bike on Italian trains?
Depends on the class of train national and regional if I remember correctly. One of them has to be boxed the other Dosn't. I got fined and kicked of a train going to Rome as just took my bike on without checking.
It will be in an Evoc bag.
I put one on the train to Siena no problem
Try asking the man in seat 61. General suggestion is that the are no baggage limits.

Also road cycling in the hills round there is very popular if that's your thing. Once off the coastal strip the roads are quiet, cars mainly give you lots of space and every village has cyclists sat outside the bar drinking coffee.
The coastal towns can be traffic hell though with lots of motorbikes.
Thanks all, I’m taking the Geometron, so definitely no road riding.
If in doubt take the slowest service, express services have to clear stations quickly and unloading bikes can delay them.
