Hello All,
Does anyone know which MTB suitable saddles are the longest?
Had a bike fit and I need a laid back seat post which limits me when it comes to a dropper.
I am about 30mm too far forward so thought maybe a longer saddle might push me further back than my current Gobi.
Also does anyone know if copper slip is ok to be used on bolts going through carbon?
Thanks.

If you haven't already got a post, KS do a lay back version (dropzone I think).

Yeah bought a new frame off my lbs and they offer a free fit, takes a while and they get you in the optimum position.
Turned out I am not quite far enough back over the rear wheel hence the saddle question

Sounds bizarre. Optimum position for what? I usually move about quite alot when riding a mtb. I'd just get the best dropper seatpost you can and not worry about the setback.

I think the command post has some lay back due to the design? Saddle wise the Adone? (It's a Fizik has a long shell)

I know what you mean over the fit my MTB is out by 20mm on saddle position due to a dropper, TBH Ive not noticed it like I would on my roadie or CX.

I have one of these [img] [/img]
you can have for free if I can find it. It is in perfec condition unlike the one in the pic.

EDIT: I think your shop is talking baloney. Adjust the seat untill you feel most comfortable for longest, and can power your legs best. Height is fairly critical, your knees should not extend into the last 5 degrees of shraight as this is the locking mechanism and provides no power. Experiment by starting with it clearly a 10cm too low and then moving it up a cm at a time. 5mm can make all the difference, so fine tune.

Thanks for that info, the shop seemed to think I was sitting further forward than I should be with my weight a bit to far forward . . . . .they said they thought I needed to be further back from the center ..........
I know it is important on road bikes and could have some bearing on weight distribution esp when climbing.
Shoot me down if you think I am talking b.....ks

For how long do you stay seated in exactly the same position whilst mountain biking?

Some people cycle to trails? Sometimes there are long fireroad climbs. 30 - 40 minutes plus in the same position wouldn't blow my mind.

what frame ?

you might notice that most frames are supplied (and ergo designed) with 20ish mm of layback in the seatpost....

hence shop may not be talking bollocks at all ...but the allknowing STW knows best.....

unfortunantly layback does not lend its self well to Dropper posts as it puts a moment on it in the wrong direction.

not quite far enough back over the rear wheel

for what?

sounds too much like the shop are trying to sell you something (layback seat post - thompson by any chance?) you dont really need.

shift the saddle back on its rails, roll the bars backwards, reduce the sag in the fork, lower the rear tyre pressure........
everything has a knock on effect.

my advice, just ride it.
