Reluctantly time to downsize the fleet to one MTB. Am getting on, getting fat, and ride waaaaaaaaay less than I used to or should do.
I have an old 29er Singular Swift which is (and always will be) a keeper: it fits and rides perfectly. Thing is, my knees, strength, stamina and fitness ain't what it used to be so it's time for some Sus forks and some gears. And I don't want to throw too much money at it.
Adding gears is the easy bit, but are there any forks out there that'll fit without affecting the geometry too much?
I guess I'll be needing some long-travel forks: crown-to-axle on the steel forks I'll be replacing is an eye-watering 490mm. Might even be 495mm. Then, length problem aside, they'll still need to be 9mm QR and 1 1/8" steerer.
So, hive mind, are there any Sus forks out there that are:
a) c.490mm c-a,
b) still 9mm QR, and
c) still 1 1/8" steerer??
Moon on a stick, please.
Don't know what's available but an axle to crown length of 490mm is going to be a short travel suspension fork. The current model of fox 32 with 100mm of travel has an a-c of 504mm.
As above you will need some short travel forks either 80 or 100mm max, I've ran both lengths on a Swift and they both work well. I have some 80mm Manitou Tower forks not doing anything if they're any good to you? Don't think PM is working at the moment but you can drop me an email on my username @gmail.com
Sun tour still do 80 or 100mm straight steered forks although I am not sure if they will fit your wheelsize
As others said above. I run 100mm manitou towers on my gen2 swift.
