Sun is out and have a chance to get out today in the West Midlands....want to avoid the sandy paste-fest of Cannock and wondering how the Long Mynd trails are holding up after all the heavy rain?
Thinking of swopping out the rear 2,1 Advantage for a try out of a newly acquired LUST 2.35 highroller (bought 2nd hand with Peaks in mind) so trail conditions would be helpful in deciding whether to bother....

It normally holds up okay in the rain on the minton batch run down and if you were thinking of the carding mill up that drains really well from the path.
Was pretty good on Saturday, Batch valley had some damp patches but apart from that it was really quite dry.

We were there a couple of Saturdays ago, just after all that rain. Pretty much every where had drained really well. The only exception was Minton Batch, a bit muddy at the top but nothing to worry about. However from about 1/3rd of the way down there was so much water on the trail it was like a stream. Not even standing water, it was flowing! It was OK but I'm glad that was the last descent of the day, so we only had the ride back to Church Stretton while being totally soaked.
Saturday conditions were very good.
Unfortunately missed your post composite before setting off..... Minton Batch "stream" was still in full flow for large parts of its length yesterday.....resulting in one very wet arse. Nothing the lengthy climb back up and sunshine couldn't sort though.. Everywhere else very dry and it was a good day out.....only 3 walkers seen on a 32 km loop! On a side note, tried a descent down Carding mill valley as the climb up last attempt was a killer, but as others have noted, the frequently spaced water drainage "trenches" across the path make it a stop start affair and pretty much kill it.
