Does anyone have a long (>50 miles) exmoor mtb gps route they could point me towards, I don't normally mind following instructions but I want to cover a lot of ground and stopping to decide if I'm in the right place slows things down considerably!

Preferably taking in the best exmoor has to offer as I haven't ridden it before!!

50 miles on Exmoor 😯

Longest ride I did there was 30-odd miles, took all day and nearly broke me. Not saying 50 isn't doable for a proper rider but be sure what you're taking on.

I've not ridden it, but looks like it should give you what you're after

It's in preparation for a 100 miler (not on exmoor). That 150 looks like it could be bodged into a shorter ride, but does it represent exmoor riding well or is it all doubletrack

Sorry, no idea, I've not ridden it. Just knew the ride was organised.

I'd agree with the post above - 30 miles is pretty hefty on Exmoor. I could probably find you a GPX for a 30ish route out of Minehead, taking in most of the best of the area. Also have a shorter loop out of Porlock you could potentially link to it. But I reckon you'd be on way over 2,000m of climbing with 50 miles - probably close to 3,000m.

Email me if I can help mtbguiding@gmail.com

As above Exmoor has a lot of climbing, I did a 38 mile ride last spring with nearly 7000 feet of climbing & just over 6 hours moving time!

If you took the East most part of that Braunton150 route & went North/South between Robbers bridge, Exehead, Simonsbath you'd be a bit over 50 miles but you could be near 10000 feet of climbing 😕

OK so I took the two MBR routes from Lynton (which seems to be lots of road) and Porlock and made a Porlock to Porlock route taking in Exford, Simonsbath and linking to the Two Moors way.

Please comment/roast as you feel fit.

I struggled with the Lynton to Porlock part but hopefully I've made a fairly sensible route.

I'd say that
a. That route is huge... probably well over 3,000m of ascent!
b. The majority of it would probably work better the other way round
c. The section from Simonsbath to Cheriton isn't a right of way for bikes.
I'd be more inclined to start in Minehead and make your route more E-W and not drop so far S

Here is day 2 of last years EX route. Not sure if its suitable as you maybe double back on yourself a few times due to riding stages. Oh and we got an uplift to the start, so add on some elevation and mileage if riding this.

4700ft climbing, 29miles, +10 for variety+technicality of trails 🙂

That route also misses out a lot of what locals consider the best bits, grabbist/Knowle hill and North hill to Selworthy. Even if you rode the path to cheriton it's going to be a bit of a boggy trudge.
