Hi,
Can anyone riding recently in the Peak District tell me if the trail has been reopened from Hagg Farm down through Lockerbrook to derwent please?
I'm planning to head over that way this wkend, but then spotted this article: https://peakdistrictmtb.org/temporary-path-closures-of-lockerbrook-and-hagg-side/
I've read that it was planned to be closed for "about 3 months" from back last Sept, but I know these things often have a habit of overrunning.
Cheers!
It was open a few weeks back I believe.
Yep - open.
(it reopened a while back and almost immediately got blocked by fallen trees after a storm - but all now cleared again)
Nice1, thanks fellas 👍
Yes we have rode it a few times since it opened including last weekend. Suprizingly there is little damage to the trail.
The last bit from the left hander down to the bottom is now treeless with a great view up the Derwent Valley
Blimey!
That doesn't look quite right.
Suprizingly there is little damage to the trail.
We put a lot of effort into emphasising with Severn Trent the importance of this path to riders when the work began and they assured us they would minimise the impact upon it as much as possible

Hi
I came here to post about Lockerbrook and found this thread.
We rode today up around Ladybower.
Lockerbrook descent has been totally ruined. Flattened to a mirror finish 10foot wide virtual tarmac A-road for what I can only assume is forestry machine access. Absolutely gutted to see this happen to one of the best descents in the peaks.
Maybe this is old news as I haven’t ridden it for a long while.
It’s hard pack sand so MAYBE will cut up again in a few years. Or maybe someone has a plan to restore after the Tonka toys are done.
Avoid.
<p style="text-align: left;">What? No?!!</p>
Yep
Only the last 200m or so and the little switchback to the gate remains untouched
Update: lockerbrook (again)
We've seen what's going on at the top of the track and this is what we know so far.
- it's open at weekends
- should take 3 months
- should be restored to "maintain character of the trail"
- is being done by Clixby's, who have a very good reputation in this space, for Forestry England
- Forestry England have been open to our questions and accessible.
- It's nothing to do with tarmac, DCC (other than a path closure notice) or "sanitisation".
We're going to get in touch with FE for more info, so let's not jump to conclusions or unnecessarily speculate about activity when we've had reassurances about the work. 1) We haven't got the patience or time to respond to it all and 2) we're doing our best, folks.
Cheers.
Thanks for taking the time to post the info.
That’s good news, hopefully the gnar can be returned to its rightful place in the near future. And thanks for your efforts!
