Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone is going through a warranty process during this unusual time, and how they are getting on?

I warrantied my Pikes (creaky CSU) via my LBS where it was purchased getting on for 6 weeks ago, and still dont have them back. So far i've been pretty laid back about the whole situation and just tried to let the process run it course without hassling the LBS due to the obvious extenuating circumstances, I am however starting to get impatient and a little fed up.

I've never dealt with SRAM/Rockshox warranty before so I dont know what they are like normally to deal with or if the UK Distro (Zyrofisher?..) would deal the consumer direct. I've previously dealt with DVO/Windwave directly for a warranty claim on a fork purchased from CRC and they turned it around in just over a week...they were fantastic, I certainly wasn't expecting anything like that but still.

First world problems and all but we've all had to make changes in the way we work but in my line of business if we took 6weeks to deal with customer returns/complaints ...we would have any customers left.

anyway...whine/rant over

Your fork will be with SRAM Tech Centre.

Ask the lbs for an update as the tech centre are trade only.

Usual turnaround is 4 weeks as far as I know.

The warranty will be handled by the sram tech centre. They are currently quoting a 2 day turnaround for rockshox fork warranty. Have you contacted your lbs at all? Are they even open?

Lots of LBS are swamped at the moment (every cloud..) so may not have got around to chasing it up. No point in speculating or getting wound up - just give them a ring and enquire..

I didn't want to hear that! My rear shock has been away with Rockshox 10 days now and I was expecting to see it again quite soon. Six weeks is taking the piss in my opinion Covid or not. Hopefully you see your forks again soon.

Yeah, waiting to hear from Extra UK about a rattling Thudbuster.

Cane Creek got back to me within a day to offer repair or replace but I need to go Extra, heard nothing for 2 weeks but am assuming they're furloughed.

Where are you getting the '2day turnaround' information from? They are open, offering restricted workshop service and online deliveries etc, I obviously had to take my forks in to get them sent away.

I'm sort of getting to that opinion that 6 weeks just isn't good enough, regardless of the situation. As i mentioned we've all had to make changes in the way we work to ensure our customers demands are met or we don't have a business....what makes the bike industry so different.

From the ZyroFisher B2B (which may or may not be getting updated at the moment)

My Fox transfer went back to Fox Germany for a service under warranty, via YT in Germany - took 4 weeks door to door.

My bosch ebike is gathering dust as there are no staff at my lbs able to replace the motor due to the virus restrictions.

My ebike went in for a probable new motor on Friday - LBS has only just re-opened after being shut for 5 weeks. No idea when I'll get it back as they've probably got a big queue of bike in for service currently and only room for 50% of the mechanics. Are you certain your LBS is still open? After 6 weeks, would definitely view calling and asking for progress as more than reasonable and not hassling them. Just be prepared that they might have shut for a bit to keep their staff safe.

Specialized / Roval wheel sorted incredibly quickly by them and the local bike shop. Impressive as always from them.

I'm 2 wks in. Super deluxe needs a new air can as the shock mounting bolts stripped the treads in of the end of it.

Glad I have another bike and ive been hammering that and needs a new rear rim. Tomorrows job that.
Was expecting shock back in 4/6wk.🤞

Performance wise there was nothing between the DVO and Pike that i replaced it with for no other reason than it was shiny and silver...it's certainly something i'll be bearing in mind with future purchases, it really does matter to me that those that go the extra mile deserve my business.

Also make me wonder why i bother with an LBS when it seem they are doing little to help me pursue the claim & i'd be better of dealing with it myself.

I suppose at least I have another bike(what if i didn't?) and we are on lockdown so I can't ride my bike on the real good stuff, I'd be very upset if it were taking this long.(instead of just mildly miffed).

Yh lbs' can be shocking bad too at updating / chasing kit &service

I boycott my local now after splashing ££££ on a bike
Bitter Taste left in my mouth over parts that either fell apart or
Didn't work as should

Other stuff too adds up to my line of logic that all they see customers as cash cows and labelled me a pita

😡
So gave up on their attitude & thought it's 😎 I'll support a) lil one man band repair trade price bloke and myself by just building up bike/s myself
So much reward than going to a shitty lbs with bs attitude problems

For Sram Tech current estimated in-house turnaround times is currently 2 working days.

Warranty claims I have processed through Sram Tech/ZyroFisher during coronavirus have been resolved quickly if the replacement is in stock, courier might not be next day, but so far UPS (Sram Tech courier) has been next day or 2 day.

I sent a RockShox fork back about 2 weeks ago, claim was submitted on Tue, fork sent back, inspected on Thu, new fork arrived with me on Fri.

Warranty items that are out of stock in the UK appear to have no real ETA currently. I currently have a warranty shock awaiting replacement from the start of March, currently no ETA.

Give the shop a ring or email, it takes a minute to check the warranty status on the ZyroFisher b2b.

Cheers for the info bigyan, I can't see why they wouldn't have replacement CSU's instock?

I did email them on Friday and heard nothing back yet, but maybe I haven't been pushing them enough throughout the whole process and will contact them tomorrow requesting a more detail update.

Shouldn't have to push though.

Lots of stock is getting patchy as some shipments are not coming in to distributors, also unprecedented demand for some cycling items. Unfortunately not much anybody can do about that just now.

Many bike shops are inundated just now, and may be running short staffed. I seem to spend half the day answering the phone/emails/facebook/instagram, replacing tubes, and then trying to deal with my normal customers work.

My Fox 34 is out of warranty (purchased March '18 with 2-year warranty). But given I couldn't get the fork to service until now (i.e. post-lockdown), the techs were hopeful Fox/Silverfish would honour the two years of viable riding time and validate the broken CSU my service shop identified for me last week. Not a chance. Strictly confirmed my two years is up. Can't really complain, but once the UK leaves EU, Fox warranty will go down to 1 year. Be warned, get your forks checked out for CSU damage with enough warranty time to spare.

Evans Chelmsford - broken Tacx Genius Smart - sent off with 2 days and within 2 weeks it's ready to collect (not had time to get up there yet and it being Evans, who knows).

Thomas Cycle Evolution Colchester - internally defective 3 year old Cannondale CAAD12 - warranty replacement agreed after a couple of working days from photos, dropped the fork off there at weekend and waiting for the replacement to arrive before I go and collect. So far that's been maybe 10 days with the store turning their side of things round same day.

Returned broken Wahoo Core to Evans week or 2 back.... resigned to the fact that I wouldn't have a turbo for ages.... Evans not even showing them in stock till autumn (had considered getting another on CC and sell the return on, when back).... Then a call a couple of days later, new Core sat at Evans ready to be picked up, not a refurb or anything, brand new. Guessing Wahoo must have some in reserve for warranty stuff I suppose?

Anyway, I'm not going to complain, count myself very lucky under current circumstances!

Good luck all those waiting on stuff.

I had a Zyrofisher warranty (though not Rockshox) turned around in about a week last month so there must be something else going on. Possibly the LBS not sending it quickly or just faffing about, but it's probably a lack of stock.

If you speak to your LBS they should be able to ask Zyrofisher what's going on.

I don’t think it’s got any better. I’ve just sent off my RockShox super deluxe rear sock and the sram tech estimate is 6-8 weeks and we know of people who are sitting at seven weeks with no sign. My RockShox pike ultimates also need warranty but they will be going back to Germany for the German sram tech team, maybe they’ll be quicker. Either way I loathe RockShox right now!
