You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The devil makes work for idle hands - and in my case that work was perusing the classifieds. I've been very happy with my Transition Patrol but it was my second choice when I bought it because I couldn't afford an Evil.
I had an Evil Sovereign for about 6 years and bloody loved it. It was a superb bike and not really like anything else out there.
Then, back in 2010, the Evil Sect prototype appeared in MBR and I said that when they became available, I was having one as soon as I could afford it.

The Sect never materialised, but a couple of DH bikes that seemed pretty keen on falling apart did. Now, ten years down the line those issues have been ironed out, a cheap Calling frame came up and I've upgraded.
I've built it up as a mullet, and will almost certainly try it with a 29+ front tyre because I love how they ride. I've tried to keep it lightweight (hence the DT 1501 wheels with the minging logos) but I'm a little disappointed that it's come out a shade under 30lb- I was hoping for something nearer 28. Otherwise I'm really pleased with it.
The sad thing is, I can't ride it - still waiting for pedals to turn up but I've also hurt my knee so won't be able to get going on it for a while. I suspect that might start driving me mad soon...
Looks good!
Very nice.
30lb isn't bad at all given you've probably 5 to 6lb of tyres alone on that. (and by the looks an slx cassette so that's about another 9lb)
Also rule #2, never weigh your bike unless either the UCI make you or its packed for flying with.
That looks lovely - one of those bikes that just "look right"
I like the chunky-looking head tube, for some reason!
Now you just need to find a rear wheel that's the same size as the front... 😜
that looks proper hardcore !
That's well bloody nice and I don't like carbon bikes.
You've used all of the travel without even putting the pedals on, hardcore.

Turns out there wasn't any air in the fork or shock when I sat on it 😳
Fadda- I really wanted an Offering but the cheapest second hand frame I saw was about £800 more than this one. When I weighed it up, I didn't think the bigger rear wheel would be £800 worth of extra enjoyment (especially since with the money from selling my Patrol this bike has only cost £200!).
It's a bloody bargain at £200!
I was initially disappointed when I "weighed" my FMB (mainly by lifting it then lifting my old 26" bike), but then set loads of PBs going up hills on it so figured the weight didn't really matter. I predict a silly grin on your face within 10 mins of setting off on the first ride.
Ooh it's got one of those new inflatable headtubes, nice!
If you don't lke the 'mingin' logos invisiframe do decal sets for the Spine 1's in any colour you want, so just get black ones.
Oh and in that last picture I can see that one of your hoses is quite badly kinked. If you sort that out you'll be able to water that poor shrivelled plant.
The plant's an ivy and deserves to die 😉
Thought you meant in the brake hose which had me worried!
Nice primer, what colour's it getting painted?
I love stealthy bikes, very nice op.
My Jeffsy is as black as BoJo's heart.😀
That is tidy looking, I'm sure one of us could take it for a shakedown while you heal, 🤪
Worst 'I've got an asgard shed' thread, ever.
Nice bike though.
Looks good that, you'll enjoy it.
Ever since getting a road bike a year ago I've barely touched my Following MB. It just feels slow compared to blasting on the roads - most of this is a result of living in East London mind; plugging away at 15mph on the flats of Epping Forest isn't doing it for me anymore, but its a bloody great bike. Think mine is about 28lb (much lighter tyres than yours given inteded use).
Not intending a take over but i'll be putting mine up for sale within the next few weeks.
Forgot the obligatory pic.

I only ride road and gravel to stay fit really, I enjoy it but the MTB is where I get most enjoyment. This is destined for a tough life in the Tweed Valley and the Highlands.
If I lived there mate I wouldn't even bother with a roadie at all!
I have a feeling I bought that Sovereign frame off you in about 2011/12? If you lived in Peebles then.
I bloody hated it, rode it for 12 miles total! The king headset is still in service on my 853 Inbred
Restlessshawn- it had a King headset but I lived in Sheffield when I sold it. Sold it as a whole bike I think for not a lot of money. I miss it but know it would feel like a kid's bike now.
I still have an Evil DOC for pump track duty and it looks so old fashioned someone asked me if it was actually an Evil or just some shit frame with stickers on 😐
I was just popping in to say I'd really, really love a Following. Then robowns puts that pic up!
Please, Rob, tell me it's not a large....
Nice Calling, enjoy!
Three sheds.
I like your style.
And the bike.
Haha Fadda, medium my friend, fortunately for you.
