so i bought some new grips and low and behold i have sheared off the clamp bolt, the clamp bolt is now stuck in the clamp with no easy way of getting it out (guess drilling at worst) i cant buy the individual clamps (ergon ones) anywhere on there own....so now i am screwed, unless there is a way of sticking the grips on to carbon without the clamp/screw? hairspray has done nothing, is there anything else i can try or have i just wasted 30 quid 🙁 greaet start to new year 🙁
Can you drill it out and retap? Or get someone else to do it ?
If you drill it out very carefully with a drill bit just smaller than the bolt itself you 'should' be able to remove the left over thread with a fine jewelers type screw driver, or if you're very lucky it'll fall out
yeah thought the drilling bit may do it, but is there nothing in the meantime that will stick the grip to the bar without a bolt/clamp? i know people say hairspray but thats never worked for me, and even less likely on carbon for some reason 🙁 bloody always do something stupid like this 🙁
Air FIx Glue?
(only kidding BTW)
Try it with hairspray
If the holes aren't blind, try a small drill from the other end, if it picks-up then it'll usually unscrew the remnants(suggest a 2mm bit). Oh, and be careful when tightening, i've seen carbon bars crushed by overtightened grips.
