Hi all, i need some info. I have been invited to go and spend a week in Loch Lomond in Feb next year. I will be taking my new and trusty On-one with me. But the deal is that i have only rode trail center trails. what is there to ride in Loch lomond and how does it work to just go out and ride what i see if you know what i mean. Please help so i can be ready. Thank you
Plenty of OS map stuff on either side of the Loch- its a big Loch- so what side are you going to be on?
A lot of the stuff up to and including Rowardennan is pretty similar to trail centre riding anyway. North of that it gets a little trickier with some excellent rooty stuff between Rowardennan and Inversnaid. There's also as much of the Ben Lomond Path as you can be bothered to push up, but you won't be popular if you go during busy periods.
If you're on the wesst side of the loch then there's a good (old) landrover track from the top of Glen Douglas down to Arrochar. There's around 70 or 80km of trails in Arrochar which vary from easy, scenic fire roads through to steep and technical singletrack.
It could be pretty wretched up there in February though, take the waterproofs and prepare to hide in the trees!
Feb could be a laugh. I'm guessing it'll be pretty white if this year is anything to go by.
Pretty much ride what you see.
