Looking to ride from Culra bothy way, to Rannoch station. Anyone ridden the trail from Loch Ossian past Corrour Old Lodge, on the flanks of Carn Dearg? Looks well defined on sat image.

Should be fine. I've walked it a few times. I think it may even be on the HT550 route this year(in the opposite direction). Expect the occasional dismount / boggy push as per usual 🙂
Ta Scotroutes. the HT550 goes further east to follow Loch Ericht shore to Ben Alder Cott. I'm looking as an alternative to that.
Ah, I've obviously not been paying enough attention. That's a nice route in to Loch Ericht though.
FWIW, the views from Corrour Old Lodge are fabulous, the sort of expansive outlook we don't often get in the Highlands. Even better if a passing train gives it human scale.
It's been confirmed as a recent stony resurface and I remember seeing it now last year. Will avoid until it's improved. Ta.
It's been resurfaced? Sounds good, when I last 'rode' it I seem to recall endless boggy dismounts, it was a sort of rutted waterlogged quad bike track for much of its length 😕

But +1 for this ^, probably worth doing either way.
I rode it from south to north, after a long warm period. it was a cracking path.
fantastic views to the left over rannoch and over to the nevis range.
I rode it a few weeks ago going south.
Will avoid until it's improved
No need - I found it a good riding surface on a rigid 29er.
I'll second what Scotroutes says about the views - there was fresh snow on the tops on the day I did it and it was stunning!

Thanks Tom and Ton. Great blog - it's swayed me to doing it if the weather's clear. If not, we'll reverse HT550. Is the pic of Nick with the grey Corries the track in question?
