I've been looking at entering a local XC race or two but struggling to find any local (i'm near Fod). I've been surprised by the lack of xc races in the FoD, but maybe i'm looking at the wrong places (R&R, BC website). Is there an XC event website that I've missed?

Xc racing is sadly dieing a slow death in the UK

I blame gravel! Not that I dislike it but a lot of those events don't really satisfy the mass start elbows out aspect unless you're a real front runner

I would just look for any xc race at all and then enter fun/ open category? Most of the races get listed on British cycling. Not much going on that isn't on there

I doubt it, it's not as if there are plenty of local gravel races to choose from. If there were any in South Wales I'd know about them because I'd be doing some of them.

looks like there's a welsh series (fod and afan rounds) and a south west series.

Not my area (southern xc and gorrick is my patch) but just because the website/socials focus on the skinny, team kit, race bike guys in Elite category doesn't mean there isn't a fun/open/sport category that is suitable for your level.

Plenty of non-lyrca non xc race bike entries in Southern XC fun/novice category.
