Hi all, off for a bit of a family beach holiday over half term. Is there anythign worth riding locally? Closest stuff I know of that's good is probably Snowdon, which looks like an hour's drive each way.

Thanks!

Coed y brenin not too far. About 20 to 30 mins from Porthmadog.

Antur Stiniog for uplift.

If you go for Snowdon dont forget about the bike ban. Between 0900 and 1700... No bikes. But an evening ride down in the sun is pretty awesome. Wouldnt bother with the morning will be busy fairly early in half term.

It will be packed on Snowdon this weekend as the forecast is also good.

Dont think there is anything good offroad around Llyn, except for some cheeky stuff mayby.

Not ridden it (as not been there with the bikes) but the cliff path between Abersoch and Llandedrog would be pretty awesome.  There is also a unpaved road which is pretty rocky.

Thanks guys, thought as much. Ps if doing Snowdon we will be very early or late, and probably not on the weekend! I am well aware of how busy it gets, probably one of my least favourite mountains to be on generally, to be honest.

This will do you nicely, it's kind of in the area too.

There's defo some riding. There are uplift days at Nant G but it's private land so no riding outside of uplift days.

I've done the Pont Scethin ride above. Bit of a pull out of Barmouth! 😓

Nice one Steve-b77, I've grabbed that ride too - family holiday in August near Portmadog for us

Cheers all just found Nant G. Can't see anywhere where the actual uplift days are advertised though!

And yes pont scethin is a grand route, did it for the first time back in April.

I used to stay in Abersoch frequently and spent years looking for some decent off-road riding. I came to the conclusion that there wasn't any on the Llyn itself, but it was a great place for the road bike.
