I saw on a 10y thread that Brechfa is a hour away (my driving speed).
Is there anything else closer? Local marked trails ??
I've got 2 hours to kill tonight or tomorrow morn.
Not that I am aware of.
you could probably waste a couple of hours in Pembrey country park. But waste would probably be the key word in that sentence.
There is a disused railway line that is a cycle path that runs into Cwm Gwendraeth - few pubs along the way for a bite to eat and a shandy or even the coastal path to Burry port
Otherwise. Brechfa, Afan or maybe even Clyne woods in Swansea. There is also another set of trails in Swansea but bit more secret I think. Maybe someone on here might now.
Definitely worth getting out of Llanelli though 🙂 Maybe head to check out some castles in the Towy river region - like up in Llandeilo - Dinefwr or Carreg Cennen
I moved to the area at the start of the year and have so far found bugger all. There are a few bridleways in the area but each one I have tried to ride has been blocked or so badly maintained as to make it impassable.
I would second Rudiboys suggestion of riding up the cycle path towards Cross Hands, it's all tarmac but no cars and once you get up the valley a bit it's nice and flat, there are a few things to see along the way too, just before Cynheidre there is an old brick kiln (keep an eye out on the left for the chimney) that is fun to have a poke around, it's one of these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoffmann_kiln . The Lliedi valley is very picturesque as well, I rode down it nearly everyday on my mountainbike during lockdown and it kept me sane.
If you fancy some hills then ride up the cycle trail to Horeb, then head up the small roads to Mynydd Sylen, from the top you can see the Gower and if it's clear, all the way across the Bristol channel.
Thanks guys. It's depressing that such a beautiful area of the world has f* all single-track nearby.
Will hit the Lliedi valley tomorrow
Cheers
Troserch Woods, by Llangennech, has a few loamy trails.
SA4 0YQ should get you there. Google Troserch Woods, there is a bit more info there.
Pembrey forest, accessed through the Pembrey Country Park has a maze of sandy trails through the trees, some of these trails make up part of the Battle on the Beach route. Strava will be your friend here.
I have worked in the area for a long time and have yet to find anything better than what has already been said.
