You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I noticed this morning I've got a little metal disc (thicker than a washer) floating loose on the exposed inner between the outer end elbow on my 5700 rear mech and the cable clamp.
It looks like it should be pressed into the derailleur body and has come loose. Doesn't feel like it wants to go back in while mech is cabled and in use. Shifting doesn't feel like it's altered.
Given that it's the filthy time of year again and this is a daily ride, should I ignore until I next want to change cables or make it a priority item this weekend? Not much spare on that inner, I'll need to replace it if I cut the cable end off to remove it.

If it's the bit i'm thinking of, it's a small press-fit alloy collar that's sometimes fitted with a little rubber bellows to help keep dirt out. If you haven't got the bellows then it's not really any use, and if it's not causing any problems there's not much point in trying to remove or re-fit it.
Sounds like the press fit ferrule to guide the cable away from the parrallogram exit when the mech is at the extreme of its travel, as long as the cable doesn't rub you'll not die without it
Edit : Doh!. Too late
Yeah just remove it and enjoy the benefits of a lighter weight bike 😆
