Anyone else get covered in little green caterpillars this weekend? After a couple of hours biking in and around Broxbourne Woods, Herts, today I arrived at Little Berkhamsted to find myself covered in them. The woman in the village shop insisted on carefully picking them off me before letting me sit down for coffee in case they munched their way through her stock. I think one crawled into to my head via my ear...

Yep, I got covered in the little buggers on Saturday. You could see em hanging by threads from the trees! A few brown ones too, but mostly the green ones.

Yeah we rode kinver mid week and got attacked by them at every turn. We were cycling like nutters in end, super slowly and staring at the sky then suddenly ducking. The gates etc were covered in them too. Disconcerting when your face is covered in them.

Ah, I felt the cobweb like things brushing over me in the woods but I didn't realise what they were. I think they are Winter Moth caterpillars. https://butterfly-conservation.org/moths/winter-moth

I swallowed one. Or rather inhaled one. Hope it's not still alive...

Ladybirds here, I've never seen anywhere near the numbers I'm seeing now, my apple tree is full of them. Hopefully eat all the greenfly and aphids and I'll get a good crop mind!.

@Golfchick - most of my wriggly passengers were picked up around Kinver/Kingsford, too!
