You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Does anyone have a link to the list of membership discounts please?
Can you see what the problem may be here?
I can see that it is one that is easily resolved 😉
By paying to find out what I’m paying for? 🙄
You're paying to subscribe to and support the site. The discounts are a bonus
certainly no need to be so condescending for someone just asking for some information.
Don't take away peoples main joy in life.
I don’t see a problem with giving a list of the discounts to help persuade people to subscribe, certainly no need to be so condescending for someone just asking for some information.
if you read it that way, thats on you - but you are correct, and I'm sorry, I did not intend to be condescending. there are THOUSANDS of discounts, if you can list them all then please feel free to post up here to aid others who have the same questions. I would have posted a list if it was that easy

Please don’t tell me why I’m choosing to consider subscribing.
I’m not sure the Camelbak discount is still valid, it wasn’t a few months ago despite appearing on one of the lists. The Garmin discount wasn’t available for everything either. Would I join for the discounts? No. I joined for the advert free experience, to get a magazine and also to support a forum that I find very useful at times.
In all seriousness though Kramer, you've walked into (through no fault of your own) a politically sensitive subject. There are those (myself included) who see heavy forum users - who for the most part would think very little of dropping 100s, maybe 1000s, on bike kit - turning their noses up at supporting such a valuable resource, for what works out at approx 80p per week.
At the end of the day singletrack is a tiny company, struggling to survive in a media world that has been absolutely decimated by a perfect storm of Google and the Internet in general taking away the ad revenues on which it relied (I'm in no way associated with singletrack, but have worked in print and online media for most of the last 25 years so know what this is about). If everyone who used the forum regularly subscribed they'd be reet. As it is there are lots of us (me included) who are worried that such an incredible resource of insight, humour and fun might disappear. Hence the slightly regrettable tone of the earlier posts.
Anyway, I hope you do decide to subscribe. You'll be supporting a valuable resource and if you buy stuff related to outdoors, cycling, home entertainment etc etc (there's a shed load, singletrack have done a deal with an aggregator of these things) you'll make the subscription cost back and then some!
If I knew for definite what the current discounts that are available are, then I’d almost certainly subscribe, because it makes financial sense for me to do so.
Hiding the list behind a paywall is madness.
A subscriber is a subscriber no matter what my reasons for subscribing may be, and to imply that one set of reasons may be more valid than another is just snobbery.
Hiding the list behind a paywall is madness.
It had never crossed my mind that someone would subscribe just for the discounts but can see that you have a point.
It isn't just a list that they have though. If you click something you get a discount code which obviously they wouldn't want to happen if you weren't subscribed. There's probably a way around that, certainly for the things where it's just a blanket site discount. Others are things like "up to 40% off" and you don't find out exactly how much without going down to individual item level.
I've got some sympathy for the OP - I've had it before when thinking about joining something.
But those above are not kidding - there are hundreds if not thousands of them. I suppose you could cherry pick a few, especially the cycling specific ones and headline those. Maybe not doing so is part of the agreement.
What I would say is....if it's down to the quality of the discounts to decide if you are going to subscribe it's probably not for you, and I'd move on. They are not that great. As already said, its from an aggregator company so it's very likely if you still have your My Little Pony Club membership, or a bazillion of other memberships, you've probably got the same or similar already. Hell, pretend you are a teacher (or any one of hundreds of professions where mirror websites exist) and sign up without any checks for free to hundreds of identical discounts. I reckon through my union membership, my kayak and cycling association memberships, my insurance and god knows what else I've got access to a very similar list about a dozen times. And that's before you look at topcashback or quidco which often won't trigger if you use a voucher code and link from a list like STWs.
No, sign up because you like the mag and online content - because you like them, want access to them and want to see them thrive. The discounts will very definitely not change your life in any meaningful way.
I find it pretty depressing that the only value some can get from this site/community is discounts off stuff.
The list is absolutely huge. The paywall you mention is probably not due to STW itself, it’ll likely be the third party they use to provide the offers. You get this with other discount memberships, such as Blue Light Card and NHS Discounts. They give you a teaser but not much else. The discounts is a bonus on top of what else you get.

I am pretty sure that kramer has contributed to the "community". I thought his thread where he brought his medical expertise on the subject of sleep was excellent (unless I have mistaken him for someone else and that wasn't him, in which case that bloody kramer what a sponger!)
The passive aggressive posts on this thread are not so community spirited. Although drac has a point about the way these discounts are really provided by a third party organiser (at least that's how I think they are provided) and are presented in a way that makes it hard for even those of us who have them available to us to see what we can get
I thought his thread where he brought his medical expertise on the subject of sleep was excellent
Thank you.
I’m not questioning what they contribute, it’s that they feel what they get back is, without financial incentive, worthless.
So hang on you can join the club , but you can only join the club for the right reasons? What a loads of bull
i always look for discounts whenever I buy things. If I knew what discounts are available here it might persuade me to sign up to access them if the cash saving is going to cover the cost of membership
Unfortunately many discount codes can only be applied against rrp though so nearly always cheaper to just shop around
Id suggest it can’t be too hard for STW to publish at list of companies and their relative discount
Who knew that such a simple question would cause so many problems. 🙄
So, on a website that is looking for more subscribers, we’ve established that the correct way to respond to someone who is looking for more information about the benefits of subscribing is to give snide answers.
To be fair, the answers you felt were snide were not given by the staff of the website.
No they weren’t. But it’s not as unreasonable a question, both on a personal and UX basis, as some on here seem to think.
brought his medical expertise
Oh I forgot, you are a doctor aren't you?
I 'could' make a cheap remark about why would a doctor need discounts but that's not needed....
But if you are, you get the blue light thingy? It's basically identical. Might even by the same company. I've not got that one but I have got the military version. I'm not spotting much difference.
Blue light card has very few, if any, cycling or outdoor gear discounts.
I work for STW and don’t know what the discounts are until I log in (to the third party site) and see what’s there at the moment! They change pretty regularly, and as others have said sometimes it applies to certain products, or a range within a brand etc.
One thing that does seem pretty constant is the discounts on gift cards at some supermarkets, so if you’re organised enough to buy those in advance then do your shopping with them you get a discount on your weekly shop (assuming you shop in those places). That’s explained more here: https://singletrackmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/save-178-on-your-food-shopping-singletrack-discount-of-the-week/
Is there a discount code I can use to subscribe to Singletrack ? SODDOFF1 seems to have expired.
Kramer can I just highlight your posts and suggest you reread them to see if maybe it's the way you asked the questions that might have riled the rest of the membership, especially those that already pay AND contribute.

Imagining that your reasons for joining are the only correct reasons is a form of snobbery.

Just remember that when you point a finger there are always four pointing back at you.
Here are some highlights....
There are almost 200 cycling discounts available. Here are some highlights:
Garmin 40%
Camelbak 25%
Giro 20%
MucOff 20%
Hiplock 15%
Endura 15%
Oakley 25%
Panaracer 30%
Beyond the wonderful world of cycling there are also discounts in many other sports including running, swimming, triathlon and climbing.Everyday Discounts
Whilst the discount % is smaller with these retailers, they are very handy and add up quickly. With these you get a discount when buying store vouchers. For example, you can get 3.8% off Aldi supermarket vouchers. I have worked out that this can save me over £150 PA, and that saving pays for my Singletrack membership and a weekend away riding in the Lake District with some fish n chips and a couple of beers.Aldi
Argos
Marks & Spencer
Tesco
Sainsbury
… and many more.
The supermarket discounts can be tricky to find. Here is how to find them: Click on Lifestyle rewards / shop / UK gift cards / Food and drink.Treat Yourself Discounts
You know the sort of things you buy very occasionally, and cost a bit? Here are some examples of the “big buy” discounts available.Oakley 25%
Skull Candy 25%
Nike 10%
Apple 8%
DryRobe 10%
Go Outdoors 10%
Millets 15%
Halfords 10%
As Hannah said, until you log in you don't know what the current discounts are.

Doh! Good job I'm not a doctor.
Wish I hadn't seen this, just had a looksie 20% off Giant bikes, with a Trance Advance reduced to £4200, wondering if I'll get the discount too?
There's literally thousands of brands listed in the EZ discounts system but I thought this might be useful. It's the top 50 brands/deals in the last 30 days according to STW members.

The one I've used which is handy is the 10% off in store in Halfords. The site gives you a barcode on your phone that they scan in the shop.
Yes I know Halfords 🙄 but they are open after I finish work, are only a mile or so from here, and sell car bulbs and other boring stuff that I need.
Better discount than cycling UK which is only 8%
If you're a regular need of car fettling bits could pay for an online membership fairly fast.
The 3 or 4% at supermarkets seems a great idea but I'm not organized enough to use it. My bad I know.
£0.45 off an Apple TV 4k has bowled me over...................

Only 8% now which is still a decent discount and beats Cycling UK as it can be applied to most things in store not just cycling goods (I’m more likely to buy tools in Halfords than bike stuff)
Edit: Just checked the current Cycling UK offer and I suspect they are now exactly the same
I've looked 3x and I still can't find one for dom perignon
