Had to use my car yesterday to get to the station rather than commute by bike. Got back to the car very late last night and the commuting gods had decided I should pay for not using my bike and I had a flat tyre on the car - nail stuck in the tyre.
So decided that it was too late to do anything about it, I'd use a Lime eBike to get home. Only about 4 miles using the most direct route. Nice and easy to get set up to use. But I might have been doing something wrong, but there was no e-assistance on the hills. Only short steep hills, but I was out of the saddle putting in a load of effort. I don't see how these can expect to be used regularly if they are only able to be used on the flat. It was almost a case of me getting of and pushing it was that hard. The battery indicator said it was good for 17kms at the start of the ride and still said 17kms at the end.
Anyone else using them and know what I was doing wrong? Is there some hidden button I need to press? Is it straight forward pedal assist (which I presumed it was)? Have looked on the Lime website but can't find anything.
If anyone is interested cost was £3.70. Unlikely to use again though as I was drenched in sweat at the end of the 4 miles and it said I only burnt 46 calories!!
My only experience is of passing one on the Tower Hill-Westminster superhighway.
I wasn't going very quickly, passed easily and the rider looked pretty knackered, I assumed the electric assist wasn't working...
Apparently the electric assist is on all the time.
