Now Specialized don't do the Rime any more, is there anything similar - Vibram type sole, not too chunky.

I went from a Rime to a Terraduro. Not quite the same but close.

Terraduro has good Vibram soles and seems to take up beating from rocks quite well. There is also a high volume version available but normal version is already quite spacious. The only downside is that they are quite heavy.
5.10 Kestrel is another alternative and there might be something from Vaude and Northwave as well.
