Anything else out there? As the Solo is a bit short on the top tube.

650b, slack and low and 120mm of travel?

Not seen much as anything 120mm or less is 29er only.

An Orange Four would be perfect if they made one!!

Nicolai Helius TB would be choice no.1 but I'm a large which means 29er which is no go.

Pyga look wrong, steep and uninspiring geometry

Five is to much bike, I have owned a 2 Fives and now have a 160mm Nicolai. I'm looking for something to replace my hardtail hence 100-120mm travel on the rear with 140mm up front.

In 26 inch Cannondale Rush is the perfect bike but 27.2m. Seat tube.

No frame only on the kona and too much travel.

Don't really want carbon either

The problem there is a heap of beautiful bikes get snapped with poor camera's or the camera hasn't been used correctly for the purpose. Even with a distorsiontastic lens on a camera, stepping back a few dozen feet and zooming in will give us better images of what a bike should look like. Distortion can put folk off a bike so I never go by pics these days. Got to see them in the flesh.

The headtube of the Pyga is 1/2 a degree steeper than a 5010 and 70 degree in the seat post with the 5010 73.

I had a look at a few of those Juliana's earlier. They really look like they've hit the back of a bus.. but who knows what they're like in real life :O)

You can always just stick a slackset on the Pyga

Have a look at the 650b Trek Fuel EX?

The 26in ones were perfectly evolved 120mm trail bikes so I'd imagine they'd do a decent job of the slightly bigger wheeled version.

They have loads of standover so it's easy to "go up a size".

Bandit? I know it's 140 now but they pedal really well, my strava climbing times are pretty much equal to the ones I set on my soul. Really nimble and playful too

not sure about sizing, they do come up small which might rule it out.

XL 5010? I'm the same height as you and ride a large, I find it has plenty of room up front with a 70 mm stem, more than the nomad with a 50mm (nomad has a longer tt) but of I'd had wanted more reach then the stand over of the xl wouldn't have been an issue. Have you tried them?

Was thinking bandit 27.5 too, didn't realise it had gone up in travel.

As the Solo is a bit short on the top tube.

Have you tried one and decided it's too short, or just basing it on published geometry/rumour?

Not meaning to be overly cheeky, but they're not as short as some folk on the Internet (TM) makes out.

@daveh

Really loving mine so far!

Solo was on my list but decided I couldn't justify another £300 on the build for it to be a Santa Cruz

Honestly I think climbing ability is more about how fit you are than the bike anyway, when I demoed the transitions I beat most of my soul climbing pr's on the demo loop on a covert as well. Hadn't been there on the soul for ages and extra fitness was the difference.

At 140mm you a lot more options. Banshee Spitefire, Devinci Troy, Norco Sight, Kona Process, Mondraker Foxy etc.

Yeah, I know about that bike through a mate.

It's doubtful that they will put it into production though......already asked for 650b version with no luck

I think you will find it may well be.
It's uncatchable on most trails apparently until it runs out of travel !!
Long slack and low!!
