I’m after something I can stash away taking up little room in my pack. Nothing fancy so no pockets, bells or whistles. Thinking something like the Endura Hummvee but open to suggestions...cheers

I have a couple of these:

Just watch for them in the next sale, I think mine were closer to £15.

I have a montane that is about 10 yrs old & probably my most used bit of kit, it's outlasted many waterproof jackets.

Shame they don't seem to make them any more.

I was eyeing one up online at Decathlon yesterday - def £19.99.
Today it's shot up to £29.99! Bastids...at that price I'll prob go with the Endura Hummvee now as not much difference.

Gilets are probably the most useful piece of cycling kit after padded shorts.....

Slight hijack... Can anyone recommend a skinny softshell type gilet? I'm a sweaty bugger and want something to keep the chill off without it being boil in a bag, costing a fortune or being bulky. Moon on a stick?

I'm a big fan of Altura kit for no nonsense decent quality, nice fit and value. I also like how they do reflective clothing without it being all hi-viz yellow.

This one is a more athletic fit, I'm 5'11" and 75kg, medium fits me very well. It has a nice high fitted collar, nice drop to the rear, no flappy material and is nice and soft so doesn't sound like a crisp wrapper in the wind. The mesh back is great for keeping you cool. Pretty wind proof too.

I've tried a few others and this one was perfect. Used it last night on a mixed terrain ride in East Lothian and it was perfect.

I find the standard Endura kit cut very square, not ideal for a slim cyclist like me (slim build with a slight pop belly).

Their FS260 kit fits better but ain't cheap.

Polaris kit is ok if it fits but can be odly sized at times.

Order a few and try them for fit, send back what you don't want.

Can anyone recommend a skinny softshell type gilet?

Most of them are soft-shell style fabrics, windproof and breathable (to varying degrees). The main purpose of a gilet is just to keep the wind off your chest to reduce heat loss, rather than to be waterproof or add insulation.
