I know ... I should be running tubeless, but having just bought a chunky monkey / smorgasbord 26er tyre combo thinking there were tubeless, it seems they aren't ... certainly way too baggy to seat on a standard rim.
So, as it's a cheap winter SS hack and I can't afford another set of tyres, tubes it will have to be until these wear out.
Is it worth going for lightweight tubes? Can get some from OnOne for £3 ea (same as a standard tube), so no extra expense, but are they (even) more puncture / pinch flat prone?

Not for me they weren't? More tape required

Yes

What rims you got? You tried the [url=
Tubeless method...? I've had great success going tubeless this way in the past.
Use Spesh Turbo tubes on the road, which are lighter than normal butyl without being scary light. Have flirted with light tubes on the MTB a couple of times, and they've all been crap. Tubeless FTW, just try harder at the fitting thing!
Hmm ... Slightly mixed messages (and personal experience) on the OnOne tyres then. Their website specifically mentions that the 650b tyres ARE TR, but no mention in the description of the 26 or 29. I did run a 650b chunky monkey on my other bike for a while, standard rim, ghetto taped ... It kind of worked but did regularly leak, and in the end I gave up on it.
Asked my mechanic to try and do this one, he knows his oinions and couldn't get it sorted. Will try gorilla taping it myself when I've a bit more time, but tubes it is, at least for the time being.
Seems lightweight tubes a bit pointless then ...
You don't actually need tubeless ready stuff to go tubeless. Tubeless predates tubeless ready tyres.
Light tubes are worth the added risk for fatbikes imo, ~185g for sv13f is a good weight saving over ~390g sv13j, especially for the relatively unweighted front wheel.
CMs are fine tubeless. I've been running 29 ones fir a couple of years.
If they're loose, then just use another couple of layers of tape to tighten things up.
