Hi all,

Heading back to the alps for the first time in a decade this summer. Last time I was there I wore a Dianese DH suit.

Far too heavy for having fun imho these days and would like to be much lighter on the bike.

Any recommendations for getting some protection without ending up like the Michelin man?

I wear  this

https://www.sixsixone.com/evo-ss-jacket   and I kind of rate it. back protection (although a little short) shoulder and a little bit on the chest / ribs. Its an utter ripoff mind and someone will be along in a minute to say that its not impact cetified or something, but I feel better wearing it in my local bike park and for enduro enduroing.  all pads are removable for washing and it has held up very well.

review here of longsleeve

That pluskneepads and a full face do me fine. oh and so snowboard shorts with d30 in if downhilling on really rocky shite.

Lots of my buddies wear the fox hard vests over their t shirts. fashion mainly as bryceland does too.

all depends on what you want to protect, comfort and so on.

I recently bought one of these Scott vests.

https://www.scott-sports.com/gb/en/product/scott-vanguard-jacket-protector?article=2655375594009

It's similar to the 661 version but I liked that the shoulder protection can be removed completely. It'll take a bladder & has pockets for riding pack free if you're just going out local too. The back plate is quite big but not really noticeable whilst wearing it. I only bought it Xmas time so I don't know how sweaty it's going to get which could be a big issue for me but so far so good.

+1 for the TLD HW top. I also have some armoured liner shorts from them which are very good.
