Starting the next winter project of a build for sweajnr. He's currently on a 24" with a set of Stans Crest rims that have made a real difference (rotational weight and all that). So I'm hoping to do the same again but the 26" version is currently like rocking horse poo.... So if the situation continues into the spring I'm wondering what other options might be out there that are similar in weight....

Just had a look on Superstar, their wheels are pretty light and affordable, but sale is over and no obvious 26’s.
Could he go straight to 650?

Are you wanting to buy new? That'll be the tricky bit!
If you're building some wheels up, have you looked for a used set of 26ers in a wheel to pull apart? I'd be putting a wanted ad on a popular mtb forum 😁
Doesn't really matter what the hubs are if you're pulling them apart, then just sell them on?
I was looking for something similar a few months back and ended up acquiring a set of Mavic Crossrides.
Other alternatives could be Stans Olympics or Alpine. There's someone selling new alpines on the bay.

These are available, though 70g heavier (roughly. I think.).

I've got a (pretty beaten, but they were true) set of 26 Crest rims you can have for postage or collection from Nottingham.

These are available,

Maybe, maybe not.

I enquired about a set of forks the other day that turned out not to be in stock and no idea when they would be back if at all. I'd be phoning first to check.

I actually have some Crest 26 built up on Hope Pro2 Evo (not boost, 135mm rear) which are surplus to requirements. Drop me a PM if you are interested and want some pics?

Argh! I’ve just not bid on some stuff on eBay because getting it new from the above was only about 15% more expensive and I believed they had stock! Thanks for the heads up!

Let me know if you are selling the 24” wheels, I was thinking about getting some to replace my daughters heavier wheelset! 🙂
