Just picked my new wheels, crest 29er rims, dt rev spokes with Royce rear hub and White Ind front hub...under 2000grammes for the pair

These are 29ers, but that's still not particularly light. ZTR Race 29ers are 1370g.

front is 803 grammes, rear is 1042, conclusion Royce hub is heavy

I always assumed Royce hubs were uber light? I considered them but decided £300ish was a wee bit steep so Hope Pro 2 it was!

Note how they don't claim any weights on their site, there's a reason for that 🙂

They are stunningly engineered though, the finish is beautiful and they will last and spin forever, you just don't buy them for the weight. Same with Phil Wood, in fact they're even heavier.

For reference, and because I'm bored:

Royce: 216g/365g
XT Centrelock: 170g/334g
Pro 2: 185g/295g
DT 240 6-bolt: 154g/267g
Tune Prince/Princess: 103g/190g
