Just picked my new wheels, crest 29er rims, dt rev spokes with Royce rear hub and White Ind front hub...under 2000grammes for the pair
Happy days!
"Light" is relative I guess 😉
2kg for a set of wheels, bloody hell 😯
Is that normal for clown wheels?
Crikey, thought mine were heavy at 1700g :S
Did you weigh them with the tyres on?
Wow, I thought my 819's were porky....
mmm could be crap scales, will weigh again 😕
Wow, I thought my 819's were porky....
These are 29ers, but that's still not particularly light. ZTR Race 29ers are 1370g.
front is 803 grammes, rear is 1042, conclusion Royce hub is heavy
Correct. Well engineered, and heavy.
hopefully will get better bearing life compared to hope pro II.
I always assumed Royce hubs were uber light? I considered them but decided £300ish was a wee bit steep so Hope Pro 2 it was!
Light enough but still strong enough for the trail david. Its not like you want a spastic bambi ride, is it? 😕
ZTR Race 29ers are 1370g.
Using same rims, which is the main thing!
I always assumed Royce hubs were uber light?
Note how they don't claim any weights on their site, there's a reason for that 🙂
They are stunningly engineered though, the finish is beautiful and they will last and spin forever, you just don't buy them for the weight. Same with Phil Wood, in fact they're even heavier.
For reference, and because I'm bored:
Royce: 216g/365g
XT Centrelock: 170g/334g
Pro 2: 185g/295g
DT 240 6-bolt: 154g/267g
Tune Prince/Princess: 103g/190g
njee20, is that the latest version of xt centrelock 170g/334g?
