Any recommendations? Something cheapish, packs down to fit in a pocket or a saddlebag, reasonably visible colour without going dayglo, light but not in plastic bag territory.
I had a Helly Hansen one, but it was so small and packable that I seem to have lost it
I got one from Alpkit some time ago. Was around £30 iirc.
Edit one of these https://alpkit.com/collections/mens-waterproof-jackets/products/arro-mens
I have a Montane Trail Light in orange. There are cheaper.
Sportspursuit have some in Craft just now

Was just about to suggest the Alpkit Arro. Not the lightest or smallest packing, but does what it says on the can and doesn't feel flimsy.

Paramo ostro they are brilliant and can be picked up at good prices often if you search around , go outdoors and blacks normally well priced
£10 Tog24 here, now 3 years old and just starting to look worn.
Pertex with removable arms, blue with a few reflective bits.
I use a Montane. If it's worn with a wool jersey, it works even better IMO.
Another shout for Paramo. I've been using the Fuera Smock... The lighter version (not classic) comes in either rust or blue , it was last seasons release so should be cheaper somewhere. lightweight great for rides and also great for down the pub
You'll get a waterproof from Montane that'll be lighter and pack smaller than the paramo offers. I can't speak to individual fit but the fuera I have is a (relatively) heavy, flappy thing. Robust though. I wear mine when doing trail work.
Montane Featherlight would be my recommendation, in smock version. Surprisingly robust, light, packs very small, enough room for arm/elbow pads just about, can be treated to be more waterproof for winter, left alone to become more breathable for the shoulder seasons. Not cheap these days though.
I dont know how Montane stay in business....literally everything I have bought from them absolutely refuses to die meaning I never need to buy another one!
My pertex Montane featherlite velo must be well over 10 years old and still gets used at least once a week.
Came with a little bag which attaches to the seat rails. Was about £45. Total bargain.
Del the paramo ostro is an unlined windproof that fits in it's own tiny pocket there is nothing to it I fail to see how montane could do it lighter, there is an ostro light as it goes lol but I've ran a number of 20 mile plus races in the standard ostro and it's been perfect if I ever lost it I'd definitely buy another, other paramo stuff yes that is heavier though
Edit just checked mine is 168g and the ultralight is 116g
Fair play - the ultralight is a similar weight to the Montane Featherlight then.
I have a 2.5 layer waterproof hoody from Montane that weighs about the same as your ostro and cost about the same too (not rrp TBF)
Another SP option is Berghaus goretex paclite which i think is only 65 quid or so
paclite not as breathable as a windproof though
I use a rapha classic wind jacket on the road, and a gore one off road (contest active shell maybe?). Leave a Howies one in the van in case I forget to bring one, find them very useful
Use a Montane lite speed for walking.
Wear a windproof bikepacking/wildcamping because I can layer or swap layers with a waterproof more easily. Wear a softshell if out for the day (or weather is looking more reliable). Softshell is an outdoorsy one, not a biking one
I always thought they were more expensive than that, I'd love to try a paramo velez but cant justify it in case I dont like it
