You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
currently have old Hope Mono M4's, 203 mm front, 180mm rear (the black and gold ones)
Is there a significantly lighter option bearing in mind I'm a svelte 15 ish stone?? Obviously, I could go for smaller rotors but would rather not
I think the lever / hose / caliper weight is about 320 g each end
thanks
Formula R1 is light but also still powerful. Stupidly expensive though! About 190g an end without rotors.
XTR Trail?
thanks njee - any idea on weight of the xtr trail?
how about hope tech x2?
are they up to big bloke occasional Alpine duties?
What's your day to day riding like? If I was using brakes in the Alps, saving weight would be the last thing on my mind...
Not totally sure, about 200g without rotor IIRC.

Out of my area of expertise I'm afraid!
Shimano Deores took care of me in the Alps (95kg) the SLX XT XTR versions get lighter for the same power, unless you get the posh pads and rotors too.
cp - normal riding is kent / occasional wales / lakes / few enduro's / mtb tri's; Alps maybe few days a year
njee - so you don't ride in the Alps? Assume you can't be commenting on my bulk 😀
My recommendation (which I run on both bikes) would be magura Marta SL with 203/180
reliable, light, powerful and plenty of modulation
(might be second hand only these days, the equivalent new magura will cost ya!)
