Hi all,
Anyone used light bike road rims?
I'm in the market for some 38/ 23 or 25mm carbon rims but I've seen quite a few wheel sets from China suffer from inconsistent braking surface.
Obviously this doesn't apply to the MTB stuff so anyone riding the road gear?
Any other sellers you'd recommend ?
just had a set of LB U-shape 35mm rims built up.

Very impressed. I'm running discs though, so can't comment on braking surface issues. Tubeless went up no probs, with Tune valves and 3M crossweave tape and 25mm tyres (Bonty R3 front and Schwalbe One rear).
Did you weigh them before getting them built?

No. They are quoted at 420g I think. The whole wheelset, on Tune 6=bolt hubs came in at 1578g.
I'm looking at these too, but they seem more expensive than a lot of the other eBay sellers. However my 29 er rims are still going strong after 18 months
Quite a few of the sellers tend to have the quality control issue. Without rim brakes you won't notice it, but worth spending a bit more to get the quality.
I have been using a set of their road rims since the end of last year. So far so good, but like above I have disc so can't comment on the braking surface. Mine have the solid rim bed so very easy to set up as tubeless, although I guess a real pain to thread the nipples through. LB built these ones for me on Novatech hubs.

I have also have two sets of wheels with their mtb rims, and I haven't had any problems with any of them.
