Quite interested in a set of Light Bicycle wheels. Was thinking about some DT Swiss 240S hubs.

Has anyone bought complete wheels from Light Bicycle? If so, how confident are you that your hubs are genuine?

Thanks

Id be pretty shocked if a reputable company like LB would be selling fakes. Someone did say they had some Hope hubs they weren't convinced were genuine, but couldn't say why.

I will jump in here, my LBS (the owner) mentioned to me after some work, none wheel related, that that the Hope hubs on my 30mm LB wheelset were not genuine but since then I have asked him why and he has not backed anything up. I now have two sets (one for the Mach6, the other for the Switchback) and I have had no issues with them, used exclusivity on HK's and Chaing Mai's rocky trails.
Will get off my backside sometime and open them up but after 5 months on one set I don't see any issue, if they are fakes then they are good fakes!

Simple answer, call Hope and ask whether or not they supply them.

It does seem counter intuitive that LB go to the expense of importing European made hubs when there are hundreds of very good (if less prestigious) ones made in China. Especially as their entire business model is based on under cutting established brands.... Such as Hope and DT Swiss.

they could buy retail and still spin a profit

they are probably shipping 100's of wheels daily, if a huge portion of your business is going into the european market, then you make sure you offer hubs/a package that are popular in that area

i thought their business model was selling carbon rims/products? hardly impacting on Hope, who are primarily, over CNC'd Anodized tat

I messaged DT Swiss yesterday and am waiting to hear back from them. Will probably be next week as it's the weekend.
Chinese companies do have a reputation for reproducing popular western brands (allegedly).

I know lots of forum members have bought from LB so thought I would ask whether anyone could confirm one way or the other.

I've been very tempted to order some road rims on dt Swiss hubs but after the cost+ PayPal + import duty it's not far short of a Reynolds wheels set from Germany.
At least you know they have been aero tested and have a full warranty ( lb wheels do but .....)
