Brilliant stuff. We're just running out. Haven't seen it in our Lidl for ages - does it still come into UK stores?
The most recent reference I can find to it online is April 24 but it's the Irish Sun
It's a couple of quid in store but some chancer is selling it on eBay for £12!
Have you tried coffee grounds and normal Hand wash?
Have you tried coffee grounds and normal Hand wash?
No. But it sounds messy. The W5 stuff has wood pulp in it I think as an abrasive.
Anyone got any alternatives - the W5 is way more effective than swarfega (which is what I remember my dad having as a kid).
Grab a tiny bit of washing powder and use that instead of hand soap?
Works very well, but I don't do it too often in case it takes my skin off or something.
We use this.
But not at that price. Turns up cheap in Aldi every now and then.
Washing powder is probably a bit chemically harsh on your skin.
A teaspoon of sugar to add some abrasiveness to regular washing up liquid works great though.
Just sat in Lidl car park. Will go in and report back

This works well and there’s no abrasive residue to build up in your drains.
Swarfega Orange here; https://www.screwfix.com/p/swarfega-orange-hand-cleaner-pump-pack-4ltr/23527
Not tried the Lidl one - but use a lot of the W5 products - all decent.
I did (sad I know) a bit of research into hand clearners when I ran out of Elbow Grease from Savers - ended up with Swarfega Orange too.
Cheap like this : Deb Swarfega Orange - 4 Litre Pump Top Bottle – Upwood Cleaning & Hygiene (upwoodch.com)

Interested to know - do you keep a supply ready for when you work on stuff, or so you come in with greasy hands and start mixing sugar and washing up liquid? I'm usually brought indoors in a panic by my bladder fit to burst, so the latter certainly wouldn't work for me 🤣
The sugar jar and washing up liquid are both sink-adjacent so it’s a fairly simple process to put liquid on one palm and sprinkle on a little sugar.
I also have a Swarfega Orange dispenser by the garage door with another hand cleaner in it that works far better but I can’t remember what it’s called.
I usually wear nitrile gloves if I know I’m going to do something proper gopping.
Ah yeah, I bought nitrile gloves, always forget to put them on, or take them off so I can feel better. Need to get used to them.
Nitrile gloves, car mechanic style. Swarfega went out in the 80s
Rema is the best handwash I have used, only need a tiny bit, doesn't do anythign weird to your skin, lasts ages.
Only seen it in a 10L tub at a former LBS employer.
Don't think there is a product out there can help with my hands during lambing time (and for what it's worth my search of Lidl earlier did not reveal any W5 HD hand cleaner)

Deb Solopol. I’ve haven’t found anything else that comes close to it. If this doesn’t get the dirt off, nothing will.
