just tried my new purchase from Lidl a 'soft shell water repellant breathable jacket'. Couldn't beleive all the calims on the package but thought i would give it a punt for 11.99 . Well so far (hour to work hour home in 3/4 degree wind) it works well! Havent tested the water repellant-ness yet but think i've saved my self !00?!
They've got torque wrenches in mine for 17 euros, tempted but I left it.
Got a couple of those softshell jackets. For stuff that'll get shredded by brambles, covered in mud and inevitably dragged across some rocks at some point, you really can't go wrong.
The ones they just had in have a slight shine to them, I've got one myself, if anyone.else plans on getting one I'd move quick as they.won't be there long at that price (lidl manager)
I've been using a lidl (or aldi... can't remember) softshell for commuting for the last few winters; it's been ace, while being cheap enough that I don't really care if it gets ripped by brambles or crashed on.
Other than being gutted about having to inevitably replace it with something that is more expensive yet not as good if I did, of course. Better not then!
yep I have two of the Aldi ones and they are great - they are gonna get rain and snot and mud on em, why would you pay more ??
gloves, bib shorts and shoes are worth spending good money on, the rest is just window dressing
I have got heaps of riding gear all the usual stuff including casstelli, Gore and Assos think the Lidl/Aldi stuff is easily as good as Altura/Endura stuff i have got, if not better the only problem being the range I wish they would do some waterproof baggies 😀 .
