I had a trip pretty much ruined today some of which was due to my ignorance.
in short I had a puncture replaced the tube and proceeded to unscrew the valve core with my lezyne pump - twice. Then a 25 mile ride home on a flat.
Apparently I should have used lock-tight on the valve beforehand.
Not very happy with the lezyne system because of this.
Any suggestions for ‘press on’ type mini pumps ?
Tubeless and CO2
Erm, try a different pump
Just nip the valve up tight when you do the initial inflation. It's a bit extravagant, but I use the red alu stans tool for nipping valves up. Loads of purchase so you get it tight and it's red, so you can find it in any toolbox chaos situation.
Anyway I have not had a lezyne undo a core done up tight with the stans tool.
There is another thread recently on this that suggested a cheap valve extender resolves the issue. I’ve just ordered one just in case.
I was going to use tubeless but didn’t have time to set it up.
A valve extender is a good idea!
Press the black button to release the pressure in the hose and it won’t unscrew your valve core
Another brand of pump,
My 12-yr old son had a long walk home recently after a Lezyne pump fractured at the end of the shaft. Useless piece of kit.
PS: Blackburn pumps are awesome.
Erm, try a different pump
Erm, that's what the OP's asking about.
Anyway, having encountered the same problem I find that I can tighten the valve core by hand sufficiently to prevent it being unscrewed by the hose. Then once it's off, just tighten again to make sure it didn't partially unscrew. It's a minor faff but it saves buying new pumps and tubes and so far it's been a reliable solution. (There, that'll jinx it.)
Saved you from getting blisters from the shitty ergonomics of the handle.
The correct answer has been Topeak Mountain Morph for about 20 years now though, it's not stainless and shiny, but it does at least work.
Lezyne are almost as bad as Crank Brothers, but somehow don't get the same amount of stick.

Nah answer was up to with tubeless and CO2, I carry 1 tube and 2 CO2 you can only blow up the tubes you carry so whats the point of a pump?
Nah, the answer is Silca tattico.

Take patches as well , you can pump a tube up loads of times then.
I have a Mountain Morph and Lezyne pumps - the MM has let me down a few times, but never had a Lezyne pump pump fail on me. I run tubeless so make sure the valves are screwed-in properly and I always carry a valve-tool / spare valve with me - hardly a heavy burden. Many multi-tool chain tools are the right size to tighten valve cores.
Just stop unscrewing when you feel it release from the threads? Seriously, it doesn't need more than a couple of turns. After that you're playing with fire.
I have plenty of Lezyne bits & they have been faultless.
Whenever pumps have failed on rides it’s my age old Lezyne Alloy-Drive that’s come to the rescue.
It's a standard complaint about lezyne, they've released a couple of revisions, some of which they had the cheek to charge for, but they still do it when a £3 pump from tesco doesn't.
Mountain Morph is a popular choice that absolutely won't do it, though they're badly made and a bit unreliable. Ironically, the solution is to get Topeak to design stuff and to get Lezyne to build it, both companies can do one well but not both.
Truflo 2stage is a fantastic, inexpensive pump that I can totally recommend. It can unscrew a valve if it's loose, but nothing like as bad as the lezyne and it's easily lived with, but the speed of inflation is worth it, I don't think there's a backpackable pump that gets close.
I like the ones that screw on as it's that much harder to snap the end of the valve off.
This works for me - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-valve-core-remover/
Bear in mind though that my Lezyne pump included a [url= http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lezyne-speed-chuck/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=5360465029&kpid=5360465029&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=UK_PLA_Accessories&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mckv|sCc1UPkuT_dc|mcrid|67090840622|mkw||mmt||mrd|5360465029uk|mslid||&mkwid=sCc1UPkuT_dc&pcrid=67090840622&prd=5360465029uk&pgrid=17507340302&ptaid=pla-131253790622 ]Speed Chuck[/url]. It doesn't lock onto the valve, so you need to keep pressing it on but might save you buying a new pump.

@Northwind - what are these revisions you refer to? Are they to resolve this issue? Ta.
We have a Pocket Rocket, a Lezyne and a Mountain Morph. The Pocket Rocket came first and the others were attempts to get something better. Years later the Pocket Rocket still comes out every day and the others gather muck in the tool box.
It's unergonomic, inefficient and bends valve cores. But it's better than everything else.
Might not be for everyone, but I've settled on a £12 track pump, the guage doesn't work properly, because it's a £12 track pump but it pumps well.. so added a d2 digital guage for home use.
When out, I use CO2 with a spare tube and puncture kit.
Inline Bike pumps are a pain in the backside, especially the mini ones as they take so long to get decent pressure.
I use a simple solution to avoid the issue. I got frustrated with the Lezyne pump valve unscrewing and I didn’t know about the previously mentioned button trick. Unlike some others above, I have found the pump very good.
Anyway, a small amount of threadlock on the valve core thread is enough to stop them loosening. They still loosen easily with a valve core removal tool but stay in place for hassle-free trailside pumping.

They changed the chuck at least once, and added the button thing. Suposdely to fix this issue, but doesn't actually do it.
I've never had the valve core removing problem with my Lezyne, I have had issues with it sealing properly. Anyone tried fitting a different valve head? Cheap as chips on eBay etc.
