Has anyone got either the Mega C or the Mega XL yet?

Ive got a Garmin 520, but for proper long rides the battery life is a bit pants and these units promise Mega battery life.

I've had one for around 3 weeks and it's been really good so far. On a 4 hour ride the battery life hardly dropped. However I haven't used the turn by turn function yet.

I have a macro, and as above 4hr + rides not even 25% battery usage. Aiming for a 6+ hr ride in a couple of weeks, will see if its still above 50%...

My Macro ran for 13 hours on SDW and still had over 20% left at the end.

I have the Mega XL, clear screen and excellent battery life, just don’t expect to use third party routes off line, it just will not accept them, or at least the Lezyne GPS Root software you need to transfer the file to the head unit will not. If I take a gpx file and convert it to a tcx file for transfer, GPS Root just converts it straight back to a gpx file, and gpx files cannot be transferred across. If you load the file to your phone and link it to the head unit you can navigate that way...but what good is that for all day rides?

You can prepare your own routes through GPS Root and they transfer across fine, just don’t expect the routes provided by an event organiser to work as flawlessly.

Just FYI, you get the best battery life out of a garmin 1000 by having it on a data screen and only moving to map when you need it. The remote is great for that. Might be a cheaper option than a new GPS if the 520 is the same
