There’s a fresh lustre in the air that speaks to me of green fields and forests.
Of black rubber rolling through mud and over rocks.
Of fast rooty drops over steep banks and under bows.
Of wild open spaces and sheep bleating as I pass.
Of stone pitched walls and lake shores.
Of sun kissed beer gardens on wooden benches with a view.
Of laughs and grins and cake on grassy banks.
Of clicking freehubs and muddy camelbaks.
Of twisty singletrack snaking round n’ down and down n’ round.
Of the endless everlasting eternal climbs
And the pause at the top before the rush.

The sunlight streams through the window and glares on my screen.
I close the blind and return to contemplate this quarter’s targets.

you missed your calling Jekkyl... nicely written

The clock ticks
not long too go I say
Till I am freed of these shackles to which I am bound
The hills await
In moonlit trails I shall partake
A break from reality where nothing else matters but yourself

Can't do the poetry but this looks set to be the first day of the year that I slope off early out the office and take the 19 mile long ride home. Towpath, river path, Sustrans trail and bridleway from the office to within a mile of my door.

I forgot to bring a water bottle with me so i may need to pause for refreshment at one of the two canal side hostelries at the 10 mile mark.

like that tuska, strikes a chord as I ride a lot at night (well until we return to daylight evenings) Did you write it?

Jekkyl yeah thanks to you, you provided the inspiration though I'd love nothing more than to bolt for the door right now and be riding somewhere - anywhere!!

MCTD enjoy the ride home..

Chuffing headwind all the way home - less enjoyable than I'd hoped. Almost opted for a coffee at the pub halfway...

Well, it's a lot better than my last literary effort...

"There was a young man from Peru
Who always needed the loo
Often with wee's he had to squeeze
But not so often with poo."

LOL Jam

great ride last night caught the moon rising as we crested one of the hills and must have taken a gazillion pics trying to capture the moment but every single pic looked like a big white dot!

How gorgeous is it out today? I catch a glimpse of hills and green fields dappled with sunshine on my car ride to work. oh to be free, with money but no job, free of responsibilties to ride every day and live my life.
Capitalism works but it sure does suck sometimes.

Did my day off yesterday, in the office today.

Ride to work was nice this morning, if a bit cold.

No poetry for me, I'm a drummer.

When I ride my bike after rain
I shall resolve
To splash through the puddles
because it won't ****ing dissolve.

It's gorgeous here today in sunny Preston. Managed to get out and do some digging at lunch which at least gave me some fresh air.

Gorgeous here too and I'm looking across at Sandwell Valley - which although very dull cycling-wise is easier on the eye than the rest of West Brom...

Hoping that "digging" wasn't a typo...
