Flying to Dubai tomorrow, so took today off in lieu and collected an Evoc bike bag from Woking, so stopped at Qe on the way and rode some rebuilt and new trails over the quarry side, Ethan Craik has had a hand in the remodel and they are riding really well at the moment, will no doubt be full of braking bumps in a week or so.

Had planned a 3 hours-ish ride, but you know... stuff...

Got out for a quick SS MTB, checking out my new Alpkit stove & titanium mug. Coffee helped down by chorizo sausage roll!

No pics, soz, but we're just back in from Bishop Auckland on the ebikes (~50 miles all in) It was very busy and overpriced but we got some nice stuff (haggis, some game salami and rather smashing focaccia) The ride back was brutal even on an ebike on 'sport', 20-ish mph headwind anyone? Eff that shiz!

@fazzini - same for me, never done anything like it before either. Really good introduction in I think

@nobbingsford - not so sure I will be faster, I got 11:18. Spill the beans, what was your time?

Las Vegas for the last week for work, was going to take bike but nervous it wouldn't arrive due to airport disasters.

So, took all the riding kit, rented a bike from the Trek place in Blue Diamond about 30 mins from Vegas strip. Got out on Monday (not weekend) and yesterday (lets call that the weekend) with some fab locals. Trails were absolutely fantastic! Brilliant flowy and technical riding, but rather high consequence pretty much everywhere if you fall or go off the trail. I had a couple of shit-my-pants moments, but survived. Every single plant is 100% aggressive and will rip the shit out of anything taht touches it - in my case left shoulder, left shin and right calf. Ooyah!

The vistas are stunning, quite hard to get one's head around the sheer scale of everything.

Cannot recommend it enough - superb! And a blessed relief from The Strip.

@bigscot check out Bootleg Canyon near Hoover Dam. There is / was a rental place in Boulder City (All Mountain Cyclery). Occasional uplift too.

Also littered with pointy plants and abrasive rocks.

Spent Saturday at Revolution Bike Park with two mates scaring myself as I always do there! Made progress throughout the day and didn't fall off, which is a bonus!

Typical that the day I'm driving back (today) the weather is perfect.

Oh and also found the perfect tractor for Caleb to buy Clarkson at the farm we stayed at:

Was supposed to be doing a road ride with my brother but he got stuck in London because the trains weren’t working. So headed out on my local loop instead, which was not much of a hardship!

Second ever visit to hebden. Rode with a mate on sat and followed a route of mostly cheeky descents which was certainly challenging. Mate snapped his carbon bars and grip in a crash after love tunnel(?). Thankfully he was unhurt and it was only an inch from the end so he carried on. And a shorter solo ride today. Got lucky with the weather, bone dry trails all round.

I've also raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Given what my wife has been through this past year, it seemed like the very least I could do.

No Pics, but a video of me on the Blaen Henbant descent this afternoon. I always forget how good this one is, and being on my doorstep it often gets overlooked for stuff further afield. Was running very rapid today, and was only 15 seconds off the KOM despite having to slow for my dog a few times and having almost no back brake either. My Bro, who was at the back behind the cameraman said he clocked the dogs at 49 km/hr after we over took them!

@gazzb1955 - Saracens head indeed. We were saying yesterday it's probably my fav pub in the world as well. Especially after the end of a brilliant ride, covered in dust, drinking beer looking at the view along the river 🙂

Think the phone box has gone. Not sure as I never see the inside other than to get beer. In the winter we're too filthy so shiver outside on our own, in summer part of the scrum looking for a table 🙂

Busy weekend of the kids racing and me riding back from the race. The two eldest (10 & 8yrs old) were at the first round of the North Wales circuit race series where they do the obvious lapped circuit race, but they throw in an ITT and skills test too to build on their all round skills and abilities, which is a fantastic idea.

The 8yr old raced in his usual style, starting steadily and winding it up and took the win in the ITT & the circuit race, coming 3rd in the skills as he clipped a couple of cones and the overall win.
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]

The 10yr old did the same, winning the ITT, the circuit race and 3rd in the skills - this time as he didn't quite duck low enough on the limbo pole, taking the overall too. In the circuit race he managed to lap the entire filed bar the lad who came second and he was the best part of a lap ahead of him when he took the chequered flag!
