Summers in the PDS will have added attractions over the next few years. Great news for the whole area.
Here are the provisional dates of the mountain biking events of the summer in Les Gets for the next few years. Start planning your holiday now!

Maxxis just broke out the moulds for wet screams!
Would be interesting if they open the XC course up fully to public afterwards, instead of what places seem to usually do and only use bits of things after... Would be fantastic to do loops of a true XC WC course.

MUST get to one of these. Have only been to th UK round, and alway wanted to go to a different round. Manage to wangle a family holiday to the Bavarian/Austrian alps this year which included a day riding at Leogang Bike Park, but didn't coincide with the WC. The 2019 round would fit in with the school holidays.

^^^why the

nonsense?? ^^^

Spectacular lack of imagination or do PDS/LesGets council give the UCI a big bung?
Having said that the Fort William round probably appears in the Old Testament, I think Moses brought the commandments down on an M1.
Ooooo,
I was all set to (finally) make the trip to Ft. William this year, but it's not much more hassle to go to Les Gets.

Go up to Dalby Forest and ride the black loop (or race the national there). Hosted a world cup in 2012 (i tihnk). I guess its probably low on the tech compared to recent years but still a great course. Medusas is too scary for me anyway!
Also might explain why they're not hosting the Euro Crankworks next year.
Anyone know what day the dh would be on next year, Saturday or Sunday?

For any particular reason? And yes the UCI ask you to pay for the privilege, their crankworx pedigree should have helped too

Not a bung, but venues and organisers have to actually want to put on a venue, if it's just the same venues wanting to put on races over and over again, then that's where it goes, imagination doesn't come into it. Martin Whiteley covers this well from 45:00 onwards here.
If they are going to host the world champs, it seems like a good idea for them to host the world cup / world cup finals beforehand. It gives them chance to figure out what they are doing, and get all of the infrastructure in place etc.

That is the UCI model (see carns and lenzehide though they had a completely different event organiser for the cairns wc than the normal rounds. The UCI can pull the world's if it's not going to plan or delay it a year.
I’ve been to fort Bill most years but fancy going to les gets next year.how easy is travelling there?i assume Geneva is the best place to fly to but how is les gets for hotels or camping etc.how expensive is food and beer.
the crankworks track from earlier this year in Les Gets is ****ing rad. I hope it's something along those lines
@antares if it's an XC/DH joint venue weekend DH finals are Saturday, if DH only it's Sunday
New venues are cool for the sport as are new promoters. It'll be awesome!

Its very easy to get to. Lots of transfer buses from Geneva. Or it's 8 hours from calais by car if you want to take a lot of kit or a van. There is a campsite but hotels and chalets are reasonably priced and plentiful. It's way under capacity in summer compared to ski season. Beer is a bit pricey in the bars, eating out is ok. Lots of good food at average prices. There is a supermarket, though, if you don't mind a bit of DIY.
cut+pasted from UCI webby... https://www.pinkbike.com/news/the-2019-uci-world-cup-downhill-calendar.html (cba to search if it was posted elsewhere)
will have to see how it works out with world cup round after world's, and in 2020, worlds followed by 2 rounds in a triple header.
definitely going to try to get down to the Les Gets rounds
