I am looking for for people to mountain bike with in West Leicestershire. Local evening blasts in the woods etc. Occasional trips to Peak District. I am based in Kirby Muxloe. I know it's a bit difficult with covid restrictions but let me know if you are interested in meeting up

I’m not too far from you, towards Earl Shilton. Where do you ride locally? From my door I’m quite limited to bridleways and some cheeky bits around Croft Hill.

Hi Funkybaj. I tend to head towards Swithland Woods and Beacon Hill. There's quite a lot of single track in that area and you can easily put together a 2-hour plus loop with very little road cycling. I'm happy to give you a tour . We'll need to let things dry out a little bit first though I expect. Last time I went out it was a total quagmire

Swithland Woods and Beacon Hill was OK. Probably more gravel bike territory than proper MTB, but nice and challenging on fully rigid single speed.

Used to start in Grooby, around Martinshaw Wood, into Lady Hay Wood, over the fields to Newtown Linford, down the permissive path outside Bradgate Park drystone wall (Sharply Hill) and then round of Swithland/Beacon.

Most of the riding around Leicester is cheeky paths though...

Cheers!
I.

Yes, I’ve not been off road for a month or two myself, it was super boggy last time I ventured out. I’ve stuck to the road and indoor trainer since.

I’d be up for that though, I’ve explored on road around those parts a few times, but never off road. A friend was also telling me about some stuff behind Forest Hill and Martinshaw.

Might be a bit of a push for me 🙂

Left Leicester about 5 years ago...

But might do a bit of a sentimental tour once it is slightly less ermmm... suboptimal 😀

Cheers!

Yes I've been pounding the roads too . It's ok for fitness but I find it quite boring compared to MTB. Yes, I know the trails in Martin Shaw. It's predictably flat but there's a few fun bits.
Let me know when you fancy going out.
